I’d have thought these lads will be on a significantly higher contract at Everton than they’d realise elsewhere, plus it’s guaranteed for a couple of years. If they go on loan, they won’t lose on that contract because Everton will cover any shortfall. There is no guarantee they will forge a career in the game if they turn this contract down.
I can understand why they take the safe route.

Hard to judge any of them without knowing the ins and outs of what the club has told them. Kyle John kept getting touted for loans and never got them so the club might have promised a 'pathway' that just haven't materialised.
Mcallister really gets nothing out of being on loan next season though that he wouldnt have gotten simply by leaving. PL2 has shown its value for these older players recently in that if you dominate it, higher teams will take a flyer on you permanently, Broadhead, Anderson and Quirk all got moves above where they would've done otherwise because of it.
Never said he did, I just used him as an example of a player staying in a PL academy too long.

you said if you want to play at a high level you dont do what John is doing.
he was never gonna play higher than league 1 or 2, probably set for life when he finally does.
He talks in his interview about getting a loan so was clearly on his mind when signing the deal.
I don't consider League One high level.

Personal opinion. 3rd of 5* pro leagues isn't high to me.
Maybe, they like to keep some older ones around or maybe they hope if they loan them out they'll eventually get a fee. We need to start generating money in the academy outside of tribunals.
