Everton Youth Teams Thread

How does that work? 25 teams in the PL2 last I checked lol
"In PL2, the 25 teams will be seeded into five pots based on their historical performance in the competition over the preceding three years, meaning each team will play 20 matches in the regular season (the same number as in PL2 Division Two in 2022/23 but six fewer than in PL2 Division One).

A 21-game week scenario will see teams playing each club in their own pot plus four or five teams in all other pots, either home or away. After this, the combined table will determine play-off positions, with the top 16 teams qualifying for the knockout format."

The inference I took from it is that without relegation they believe there will be more opportunities for younger, less experienced players to be given a chance ie u18s , maybe u16s too. Also it be less likely for clubs to hold onto “ older” players who provide valuable experience in a relegation struggle. I guess Joe Anderson and Mackenzie Hunt are good examples recently, neither were/are going to make the first team squad, but improved the u21 squad and in fairness both improved their own game too.

It should also take pressure off the managers and encourage a more adventurous style of football. The downside is just how many games will provide a competitive, something to fight for scenario you sometimes need to see which players have that something extra when the chips are down. Our best u21 performances last season were in the Papa John trophy, highly competitive matches against men with four or five stepping up to the challenge.

Anyone know the situation with ishe samuels-smith, seems a must keep
He turns 17 this month, can’t remember the date. They can only offer max of 3 year deals at 17 and these always go to the end of June. So if he signs today it only lasts 2 years ( June 2025) , so they’ll wait until July so that it becomes a 3 year deal ie until June 2026. Well that’s my interpretation of what makes sense , I haven’t seen any of the twitter rumours suggesting he’s not going to sign . I’d expect Martin Sherif and possibly Odin SS to sign at same time.

tryer going to national league on loan is disappointing, thought he'd get at least a league 2 club.
Decent manager to work with though, Paul Cook has a good rep for developing younger players.

I remember when Harry played in preseason 2021 v Preston , he had a good game but looked a bit small, around 6 foot at the time, I just noticed now he’s listed as 194cm or 6”4 now.

It does feel a bit like the disappointment I felt last season, but in fairness that worked well for Tyrer. Chesterfield are one of the best teams in the National League and they’ll be up there in the promotion race with lots of pressure games to play in. Paul Cook is a decent manager to work under too and they’re full time , I think Chester were part time. There is an underlying unease that you think he’s getting older time to start moving up the leagues , but I think it will work out ok for him.
