Everton Youth Teams Thread

Their players are just way better mate. They spend enormously at youth levels, and buy fantastic players.

I don't think there is much evidence they develop them particularly well though.

Look at what we did with a Gordon, quite a limited guy, who we sold for 50m. I dont think that would have happened if he was at Chelsea.

My core point is, they dont really develop young players that well. But I'd imagine they pay hefty wages, so it's a tempting offer.

I respect a lot of what you say but they obviously do something very well. How many of those named above did they buy in?
Id say three at most.

3rd year running we’ve lost our best 16yr old , ok so small hasn’t kicked on, but I remember all the talk from fans who knew our academy. It’s fine we have a better prospect who’s 14, well he’s gone now.

We will need never see our best academy talent come through all will get picked off.
What annoys me, is why aren’t we doing it? We should be targeting the best 16yr olds from championship clubs

Why would you move to us. We have zero evidence of providing you with a first team path.

Everton is the last place I'd recommend a 16 year old to sign.

Come on. Most of them play champions league football.
Ours play national or lower English divisions.

Chelsea make elite level footballers and they trade them to elite clubs.

We don't. It's as simple as that.

I think we are having a different discussion mate.

Chelse buy fantastic players. That's not the discussion. The discussion is, do they develop players at their club particularly well. Outside of a time when Lampard was there, I dont see much evidence of it.

You cited Rice, it was West Ham not Chelsea who brought him through.

We just sold Gordon for 45m.

There are going to be opportunities here in the next few years. This is a poor squad and if you are good enough then you'll get a chance to show what you can do

In the last year we have taken a lad who couldnt get a game for Preston, and sold him to a side in the CL. He didnt waste years on loan. We probably give more teenagers, more opportunities than any team over the course of the PL.

We have also given minutes to Simms, Cannon, Price etc in the league. They're not getting those minutes at many other teams.

The evidence is quite huge they make and develop good players.

What on earth evidence do you have to state they don't develop players?
