Everton Youth Teams Thread

For me Chermiti is far ahead of Okoronkwo, as you’d expect for their respective fees. I see something of the young DCL in Chermiti which I don’t see in Okoronkwo, both are 19 , Chermiti slightly older. Watching them play together in the recent EFL Trophy match confirmed that for me. As you say it’s a huge step up , but so far I’m not seeing significant signs from the likes of Kouyate ( I know he’s been injured) and Okoronkwo to suggest they’re going to be pushing for a first team bench place this season. I’d loan Okoronkwo out in January, keep Chermiti at FF, we‘re one DCL injury away from needing him regularly.

Agreed, he does seem to have something about him and a reasonably long term contract confirms that.
A loan would be the next sensible move.

Chermiti has come from Sporting of course and I imagine their training sessions at any level are different to ours.

I wonder about players who have moved to Holland like Branthwaite (and many from Chelsea etc). Perhaps we could send more to Brands at PSV to broaden their experience?

Same applies with 777 teams.

….maybe simpler to just bring Brands back, he’s clearly a proper football man who thrives in the right system.

We should have nabbed him years ago , when he left City was maybe too soon as he went on to get further experience. I like the idea of having some ex players in our club , but I’m not sure if promoting from within without them gaining a lot of external experience is good. I don’t honestly know if Baines/ Tait are the best people, I know they are working with poor groups compared to other years but I suspect the likes of Carsely and David Weir who’ve gone out and gained more experience elsewhere may have offered more. Both are probably unlikely to want to return now they’ve made their mark elsewhere.

Price goal on 19 minutes, two excellent goals for N.Ireland.

Isaac Price said "there isn't any feeling like scoring in football" as he described his joyous goal celebration in Northern Ireland's 2-0 Euro 2024 qualifier win over Denmark.

An "ecstatic" Price slid on the Windsor Park turf as he was surrounded by his team-mates after his 60th-minute goal.

"When it hit the back of the net I went straight to the corner flag," Price told BBC Sport Northern Ireland.

After a poor campaign, Price said the players had wanted to cheer the fans.

"Since I've been here, there have been a few games where we have not really pleased the crowd," he said.

"We know one of the main parts of our game is getting the crowd on our side because they are loud when we have them.

"It showed today. We went 1-0 up and they were singing the whole way through.

"It's something for the fans as well because it will be frustrating for them when they are travelling away and watching us and we're not getting the results that we should be getting. It just shows that we are capable of it."

Not a bad effort, but keeper should have done better. Will take it though I'm sure! Who's the left back in that clip, looked quite useful.
