Everton Youth Teams Thread

….i just like to see a spark, one moment that makes me think we have a player on our hands. My concern is I haven’t seen that moment but I was encouraged by your report last night. I’d be chuffed if he’s the business.

i’m not against loans per se, I just think at Everton the very best Academy players tend to be wanted in the squad by the manager. I always think it’s a bad sign when the likes of Mills gets sent out.
Before last season you were saying the same about Dobbin :” The manager can’t rate him , it doesn’t look good for him “ . Dobbin along with Branthwaite and Virginia had loans last season that developed them all into first team squad members.
Mills was nowhere near being first team ready at the start of the season , there’s a huge difference between loaning out a 19 year old who needs experience and someone like Holgate who I assume the manager doesn’t rate .

…..I thought it was a bad sign when Dobbin was sent out because it indicated Lampard wouldn’t have used him. This pre-season, Dyche clearly liked what he saw and thought he’d like access to Dobbin. Different manager assessment. I actually wanted him to think the same about Mills.

We don’t have the deepest of squads, if we have a good one the Manager wants then he’ll want access to him. I don’t necessarilly agree about Mills, he doesn’t lack for attitude and I’d have backed him to take an opportunity offered to him. He’s a terrific athlete, we know the genes from his Dad and his brother (both are feisty characters).

I’m not critical of Dyche, these decisions have to be made.

Chermiti is very much a 19 year old still developing, not ready to start at PL level yet I’d say. Hes closer to DCL, decent in the air , flicking on kicks from the goalkeeper, heading out opposing corners , harassing defenders - which lead to his neatly taken goal. He doesn’t have the physical presence, powerful running of Beto , but the potential is there.
Thought he started a bit slow the other day but got into the game, made some decent headers in defence as well.
Not ready yet for the first team but seems to be a goalscorer which is something.
Given a bit of time he could turn out to be a decent signing.

….fingers crossed. For me, Chermiti will be an indicator for Thelwell. If he’s an effective top flight player it’ll be a good sign we have the right DoF.
