Everton Youth Teams Thread

When are the 18's back I need to watch something half decent.
Yeah it’s a bit dull at the moment, we need one of those occasionally posts that appear to liven things up , you know the ones : “ So who’s the latest next- big-thing ? I hear that Braiden Graham is well rated and should be in the first team soon ahead of Mykolenko “

Found this bit funny, feels like the opposite mantra in the 21’s for years 😂

“Because, ultimately, that is what we're here for. It'd be obviously wrong for us to be desperate to get a win on a Saturday and compromise what might be someone's own development and opportunities to keep improving.

I wonder if Baines’s personality will ultimately count against him in that he’s a no fuss , get on with the job, doesn’t seek the limelight person. Will this prevent him getting more senior roles, I know it’s been mentioned that he’s been approached by lower league clubs? As far as I can tell he’s doing a fine job with the u18s , he’s got some decent players, his tactics look good, he’s flexible in how he uses players and gets results as well as improving the teamwork.
He’s older than Rooney , but is almost the polar opposite , with Rooney writing many good articles , showing a good analysis of situations but it seems unable to put his theories into practice. Meanwhile Baines is quietly going about his business of becoming a good coach.

…it’s really difficult to know, it’s really difficult to predict. Colin Harvey was the best Academy coach I ever saw and he was able to seamlessly transition to first team coach but really struggled in the Manager hot seat.

Harvey’s demise had plenty to do with his transfer business but the DOF model means the modern coach can concentrate on training ground. Saying that, I’m not even sure Baines wants to be a manager.

So a chance for an u18 to make history with the first competitive goal at BMD ….

Everton’s Under-18s will play the first ever game at the ground in front of an audience of 10,000 spectators on Monday, February 17. The match will be the first of three test events to be held.

….i read that the test events are youth friendly games. Still, it’ll be a nice ‘first’ for somebody, lets hope it’s an Everton player.

Braiden Graham
I’d be hoping for one of the others. Braiden would get too much limelight , he doesn’t need any more at this stage, and with a bit of luck , if he remains injury free etc he’s got a bright future. Most of his team mates won’t get past our u21s, for someone it could be the highlight of their career . I know . I have a weird way of looking at some things !
