Everton Youth Teams Thread

I thought a loan for the second half of the season would have benefitted Dixon , even a loan to a league 1 team.
I don't think we are in a position to risk him in the team between now and the end of the season and it is competitive senior football he needs now.

….for those that think I’m against sending youngsters on loan, I would be happy for Dixon to go out. He has physical attributes but isn’t high on required standards. A loan might be a bit make or break for him but in his case he needs open-age football to develop.

No point in loaning a player out if they are not going to start week in week out.

It's the more competitive game time and experience that they require, that's why the selection of who they are loaned to is most important.

….you can’t guarantee that. The reality is they have to earn a place, I do think they have more of a chance at full-back.
I'd make it part of the loan arrangement with an option to return if not given the game time, otherwise it's not worthwhile.
They may as well sit on our bench.

'Selection' is an interesting word because it suggests that we can send these lads wherever we want but it doesn't quite work like that - there might only be one team interested in taking someone.

Loanees are in the same boat as anyone else, they have to show their manager that they should be getting picked otherwise they won't. The club they go to obviously intends for them to be in and around the team otherwise they wouldn't bother taking them, but it's going to be up to the player to make themselves a fixture.

They can still benefit even if they don't start every week by being taken out of their little PL bubble and exposed to competitive environments, but yeah obviously it's better if they get significant experience while they're out.

That last bit is something a lot of players going out on loan have mentioned over the years, Simms I remember saying it took him out of his comfort zone and really benefited him. I’m sure Eli Campbell will come back a changed man after a season living in Dingwall 😳
( In fairness Ross County are a really well run club that are rooted in the community, I’m sure he’ll be contributing to that side of the club.)

This 100%. And honestly it's very hard to get an opportune loan. What happens if you get that loan, and then Paul Warned gets sacked?

And Derby will make the right decision for Derby, not Everton.

See Sheriff & Heath have been the go to guys so far to atleast fill the bench when we have been short so far.
With Doucoure & N'Diaye definitely out for the Palace game who are we expecting?

I'm guessing Dixon has an injury as he would usually be ahead of Heath
