Everton Youth Teams Thread

At U21 level we have lacked an out and out goalscorer at 9 since Chris Long moved oot on loan then away. Connolly is our leading u21 goalscorer with 5 , Byrne next with 4 , even allowing for Connolly being an excellent player and maybe having played most games it's a bit ridiculous for a defender to be in that position. Nobody seems to be able to grasp the role of 9 for us or even scoring goals from 10 or whatever - Dyson, Duffus, Leandro, Henen etc nobody has provided a goal scoring spark at u21 level.

From the Twitter feed I read we dominated against Brighton, just didn't have anybody clinical enough to put more of the chances away. Our strength at this level is definitely in defence, defensive midfield, midfield we could do with an out and out attacker.
Ironically , given the quality of his goal above for the u18s, Anthony Evans had the best moment of form in pre season for the u 21 s , was it about 5 he scored? And it does look like we may have to look to the U18s as they move up with the likes of Delial Brewster, Lavery , Nathan Broadhead , plus Evans , showing goal scoring prowess this season at this level.

Since Long left no one has really mentioned in this thread about forwards.

Obviously i cant watch the games but wonder about us signing Foulds (i guess because Galloway came up to seniors) and why we havent signed any top forward from the lower leagues to come through--leandro is 23...

....I've said before that it's so difficult to unearth a top flight CF because the skill set is so special. Rooney's don't grow on trees even if we have had the likes of Anichebe and Vaughan. It's the general reason why they are the most expensive commodity in the transfer market.

hopefully brewster or lavery can step up.

Not sure how to embed tweets in here but...
FIXTURE SWITCH: Our Under-21s' match v @SouthamptonFC on Monday has been moved to Finch Farm and will be played behind closed doors. #EFCU21
I remember from last playing them the game was streamed on their YouTube page so this is a bit of a disappointment.
Second time recently FF has been closed doors, is it a Safety Certificate issue for night games or something?
Yeah Southamton TV put us to shame with their home match, think they said they had 700 viewers during commentary, not sure how they know, but a large % were Everton fans. I would say there is a great deal of interest in watching u 21 s via YouTube /Everton tv , maybe not as many as pre season first team games, but enough to warrant action for " ghe People's Club". Mind you at the moment I'd settle for half decent coverage , like seeing all the goals afterwards, of u18/21 matches.

Maybe our prospective new owners will bring u21/youth coverage into the modern era.

Our u18s are 2-1 at ht,Evans and Broadhead pen

First game was ,moved due to a waterlogged pitch.

You're saying there is a 'great' deal of interest, considering Everton have very good resources in the media department, there isn't a demand just yet for every u21 game to be streamed live regularly. When the demand starts to appear to the club, they'll start testing the water with it. Very few clubs do stream live u21 games.

(Don't forget, the deal with Southport could stop this due to them wanting more fans through the doors at Haig Avenue for their own benefit.) United can stream and open doors for it as they have people who will go to Utd u21 games, just to see some version of Man Utd.
