Everton Youth Teams Thread

Sorry for the additional info, but I always like doing this, I have put together some further information on player ages. It has always been noted that we tend to put out younger sides than our opponents. Often you here all managers saying they put out a "young team" but when you crunch the numbers that isn't true at all, at least not in relation to Everton.

Last nights game our average age was 20 while Sunderland's was 22. Giving an average of two years difference away at youth level is huge. People will rightly say it is down to them having two experienced players in, which is partly the case.

However last night Everton fielded 8 players who were 20 and under against Sunderland 5, and more tellingly 7 teenagers in the starting 11 versus just 2 from Sunderland. This also included 1 player 17 or under (and one from the bench) against non for Sunderland.

In real terms what this means is we have nearly half a teams worth more than them of teenage players, and had a big part to play in the result.

And to be honest, it's great for us that there are teams who play internationals such as toivonen and older lads - it's a great experience for those who aren't out on loan. much better than playing those of a similar age but a much lower skill set - as they would fail to learn much in that instance. They're still developing and learning, so you wouldn't want them to come up against fully grown men every week if they weren't ready, so not only is the balance good for sunderland, it's also just as beneficial for the opposition.

I know, nothing changes, probably get the ht score [or not],plus a match report and the score about 5pm lol, they should have a u21 official efc twitter,u18s for teams/scores etc

aye they're as close to useless as you can get, still wasnt even a line up from last weeks match the other day when i looked.

everton go very close via a holland 1st time shot just over the bar from the edge of the area, hes been the one involved in most things we have done today, that came a few mins after he had a tame header easily saved from a cross from the left

still 1-0 chelsea with 57 gone

Broadhead scuffed shot goes wide from the edge of the area on 61

chelsea go close on 63 with a free kick right in the Centre of the D,20 yards out, goes wide

we seem to be the better team going by the few tweets from chelsea.

This from Chelsea site, who knows we may have something up eventually. Our team looks like usual suspects, not sure if Broadhead played for Wales u19 on Thursday, he played in their Tuesday game. Brewster back from injury. As their site says, winner of this league goes into UEFA league, so worth winning.

Chelsea U18 beat Everton 18 side and are back in the Elite competition title race in the match that was played this morning at Cobham.

The Blues youngsters also know they have to win this competition if they want to be in next season’s UEFA Youth League, another reason why this win was really important.

The winner goal was scored by Dujon Sterling just before half time.

In the England u17s there are 9 players at championship level and below.

In the England u18s there are 2 players at championship level and one at stuttgart

In the England u19s there are 5 players at championship level or below and one at RC Lens

In the England u21s there are 8 players at championship level.

This could increase with Villa, Sunderland and Newcastle if all go down.

I'm just wondering why we (or other clubs) arent going after these types? Of course it could be that we have players of other nationalities in these positions or even players that we are developing who we feel can become better than their counterparts.

However theres almost 30 players there in England yourh squads and surely some must be good enough to be signed by us in the same way we signed Matty Foulds? Seems a bit strange that they arent on the move more frequently once they get England games as id expect a premier league club to be after them...
