Everton Youth Teams Thread

For anyone wondering what this stadium is going to be like, looking at the requirements for an U21 venue should give us a clue:

•The floodlights must have a lux value of no lower than 250 lux (average).
• The dressing rooms must be no smaller than 18m2. This area excludes the bathroom facilities which must incorporate a minimum of 6 showers or baths, 2 urinals, 1 WC and 1 washbasin.
• The match officials’ dressing room must be no smaller than 6 m2. This area excludes the bathroom facilities which must incorporate a minimum of 1 shower, 1 WC and 1 washbasin.
• There should also be provision for female match officials with a separate shower and WC.
• All dressing rooms must be clean, secure, well maintained and well ventilated.
• There must be a suitable medical room within the vicinity of the dressing rooms which must contain a treatment table, a fridge, locked cupboards and the mandatory medical equipment as prescribed by the Board from time to time. Access must not be via a dressing room.
• There must be a room with a capacity to hold a minimum of 18 people, available only to Club directors and officials, visiting officials and VIPs. The room must have adjacent toilet facilities. Hospitality shall be provided.
• An additional room, with hospitality, must be made available for visiting scouts.
• The playing surface shall be grass and must be of a high standard. The Premier League reserves the right to withdraw approval during a Season should the pitch fall below the necessary standard.
• The pitch dimensions should measure 105m x 68m unless this is impossible due to the nature of the ground, in which case the dimensions will be assessed.
• The technical areas must be clearly marked out.
• The team benches must contain eleven seats under cover.
• Parking must be provided for the Home Club’s directors and officials, the Visiting Club’s directors and officials (at least 4 spaces) and there must be safe parking for the visiting coach and for the match officials.
• There must be safe access onto and off the field of play.
So floodlights, 3 dressing rooms, a medical room, a hospitality room for VIPs and officials that holds at least 18 people, another hospitality room for scouts and 2 dugouts with 11 seats. Not massive but not just an enclosed pitch either.

It'll be interesting to see how many spectator seats they decide to put in and what it looks like in the end.

one thing i forgot to say earlier, with this new stadium, interest will rise in the u21's team and this surely means the games being streamed live won't be too far away?

surely?

Theres 30 players there though. I know england and everton needs and scouts are different of course and some may be brilliant now in their age group but never improve....

However, we have bought Foulds and hes not played for england which to me seems a bit odd as if we think hes got potential then id imagine england would also or at least put him in a squad after we bought him....if you know what im getting at, just seems odd.

Also, on the goalkeeping side it seems that we have 9 keepers but none are very good it seems...surely we should be signing the best available at that age rather than going for free transfer keepers?

Any kid who's been through an academy system for many years and got an international caps will cost a bomb if his current club don't want to sell.

It's written in there contract, £3,500 for 9 year olds, £10k for 10, it just keeps trebling even by 12/13 parents need to be satisfied their kids are at the right clubs as you can't get out if you're not. Unless your Barkley / Rooney levels, clubs just won't pay the compensation.

You can imagine what it's like at 16.

I read about a teenager who was unable to join another club unless they paid compensation to a team he played for when he was u10 or something for a season...doesnt seem fair at all.

But I dont see how 30+ players in the championship or below (2 overseas) can all be out of reach...theres a left back from Walsall for example and even if not a signing for us its strange hes not gone anywhere else.

I must admit I don't have your knowledge of these younger players, but a while back I came across this explanation on the BBC of the"EPPP" system for buying youngsters . ( Fraser Hornby mentioned has recently appeared in our u18 squad). I guess feelings on the merits of the system will depend on which side of the transfer you are.

"Everton have signed 15-year-old midfielder Fraser Hornby from Northampton Town under the terms of the Elite Player Performance Plan.

The Cobblers will receive an initial £65,500 and could earn up to a maximum of £1.3m in the future, depending on how many first-team games he plays.

Academy boss Trevor Gould said they had "mixed feelings" about the deal.

"He is going to a fantastic club with a proud record of producing young players," he continued.

Additional fees for players bought through EPPP
Appearances Premier League Championship League One League Two
For every 10 up to 60 £150,000 £25,000 £10,000 £5,000
For every 10 between 60 and 100 £100,000 £25,000 £10,000 £5,000
"We always want to keep our best players, but under the EPPP if a player is wanted by a Premier League club then it is just about impossible for us to resist, given the processes set out as part of the EPPP."

EPPP was voted in by clubs in 2011 and allows teams to buy young players from lower league sides for set fees, rather than through the old tribunal system.

Everton will have to pay £150,000 for every 10 Premier League games played by the teenager, up to 60 games.

And they will pay £100,000 for every further 10 appearances, up to 100 games.

"Not only are we producing players for our own first team, we are producing players who are attracting the interest of Premier League clubs and that is a massive endorsement of our work," added Gould.

"Seeing any local player have the opportunity to develop at a Premier League club is exciting and we wish Fraser every succ

Been meaning to post this for a couple of days, but seeing the Echo Story about improving the showcase pitch at Finch Farm reminded me about it:

New 'Premier League II' reserves competition under discussion to replace widely-criticised Under-21s set-up

Proposed changes include fixtures that mirror those of the senior sides, allowing six over-age players per team and staging games in clubs' main stadiums

The Premier League's clubs are set for a revolution in reserve and youth team football.

They have been given a set of proposals to try to improve the current set-up, which has come under fire from managers and led to the death of the old-fashioned reserve leagues.

Arsenal 's Arsene Wenger is one of the high-profile bosses to have attacked the current Under-21 league - won last season by Manchester United - while Chelsea now feel forced to send their young players out on loanto foreign or lower-league clubs.

But Mirror Sport can reveal the list of ideas includes:

  • A FULL reserve league - nicknamed Premier League II - which will mirror the clubs' first team fixtures.

  • FIVE over-21 players will be allowed in matches, as well as a senior goalkeeper, to encourage youth development.
  • A TELEVISION contract which will feature live games shown at prime-time, including on Friday nights.

  • MATCHES will be played in clubs' main stadiums, with reduced ticket prices to encourage fans to attend.

  • BIG prize money of around £3million for the eventual champions to encourage clubs not to loan out their best up-and-coming players.

  • It is also understood the academy systems at Premier League clubs will be given an overhaul, with teams set to be under-17s and under-19s rather than the current U16s and U18s.
It is also understood the academy systems at Premier League clubs will be given an overhaul, with teams set to be under-17s and under-19s rather than the current U16s and U18s.

That is designed to give more youngsters a chance to succeed and prove themselves rather than being shown the door at 18.

It is understood a circular has gone round to the clubs and with discussions underway there is certain to be a major shake-up.

The Premier League has confirmed there are proposals on the table as they try to boost youth development in English football.

It is also a welcome boost for clubs who, from next season, will no longer be able to loan out players midway through the season because world governing body FIFA is scrapping the "emergency loan" system.

The ideas are likely to be voted on in the near future with the suggestion the new-look reserve league could come in for the 2017-18 season.

The old-style Football Combination reserve league is remembered for helping produce young players through the system up until the 1980s, and that could now be on the way back.

only done profiles of 16 out of the 25 for some reason, the other 9 must not count!:)

Haha, come on mate 16 out of 25 is excellent progrogress , photos and a bit of bio too, I've come to expect a grainy team photo and no names at all :-) . Still wouldn't have hurt to give full squad list of the 25.

Nice to see they've named some of the "non scholars" /presumably schoolboys going out. Jordan Corke and Nathan Moore are new names to me , Alex Denny is a big lad for 15, I saw he was on the subs bench recently for u18s and it's the first real mention of Virtanen since he signed as a Scholar , no u18 experience at all as far as I can recall. We now need our USA blues to give us live reports !
