Everton Youth Teams Thread

Not wanting to put a dampener on things, but how have we won the Title? According to the title ppl linked earlier MC were 8 points clear??

There are 2 leagues for the U18 - Northern and Southern.
City won the Northern League.
We finished second.
We then played the Southern League winners (Spurs) in the semi
City played West Ham (Southern runners up) in the other semi
We beat City in the final to become overall champions

Top two of the Northern and Southern leagues played each other - we played Spurs who won the Southern, and hence played City who won their play-off mate

Thanks guys. Good work blues :)

bet if you were one of those man city players you'd be mightily peed off. Imagine being top of the league by more than 10 points to your nearest rival but having to be told that you must play a one off match to determine the league winners. A match which they end up losing lol.

City were 8 points clear, not more than 10. It wasn't just a one off game either. The top 2 teams from both the Northern Section and Southern Section played each other in the play offs, with the winners meeting in the final - in the semis, City beat '2nd placed in Southern section' West Ham, whilst we beat '1st placed in Southern section' Spurs. Everyone knew the rules at the start of the season. The same format is used in Rugby League to declare the Grand Final winners. A team can win the league, but get beat in the Grand Final.

We won the league overall fair and square. It was also the 2nd time this season we've beaten Man City U18s as well, so it's not like today was a one off fluke. We've beaten City in 2 out of the 3 head-to-head games this season.

When you think of some of the extra resources some of these clubs have compared to us, it really is a great achievement.
