Everton Youth Teams Thread

Lad around the corner from me that plays for u18's, got a tweet off him last night & also off his mum thanking me for sending him best wishes, then we both realised that we grew up together and were in the same class for our entire school lives, just didn't realise cos didn't know her married name.

This is the side from the 2011 final,Barkley was out with his leg break.

  • Everton Yth
  • Davies
  • Browning
  • Garbutt
  • Bidwell
  • Dier
  • Barrow
  • McAleny
  • Donegan
  • Kinsella
  • Forrester
  • Thomas

Nice one mate.
So really we got browning/garbutt coming through and maybe mcaleny. As well as Ross, I'd say that's not to bad considering you can really only ask for 2/3 players from any succesful youth team, although garbutt n browning have only played 20 minutes between them but should get game time next season

I'm pretty sure Lundstram and Hope were away with England at the 2011 Under 17's World Cup when this game was played.

Dier has come through as well, just not for us

And Jake Bidwell is doing very well at Brentford. Him and Adam Forshaw will be in the Championship next season. Both were in the League 1 team of the year. Wouldn't be surprised if both ended up playing PL football again.

However this doesn't mean we were wrong to let them leave. Without the 100+ games they've played in League 1 they would be nowhere near as good as they are.

George Green @George_Green10 Congratulation boys league champions ⚽

@planty2403 @George_Green10 why weren't you playing today, are you injured. Thanks

George Green @George_Green10 @planty2403 na just one of them decision the manager makes

I was wondering why he wasn't involved yesterday, seems he was available but wasn't selected, shame for the lad but he seems to be dealing with it maturely.

When we signed him he was been talked up as the next Rooney, a lot of the big papers were doing articles on him, that's a lot for a 15 year old to handle I haven't ever seen him play let a lone train but I can't help make think maybe he let that get to his head and thought it was just going to happen for him. He's still very raw and young but he's not at the stage we were all hoping for him to be at at this point in his development.

Now I could be totally wrong but even if I am, hopefully this can give him a kick up the bum and show him how hard he's gotta work, because it does appear the kid has a lot of talent. This may have been the reasoning behind him being dropped.

To his defence he does appear to have handled it very well and maturely if that's a word.

Still only sixteen isn't he ? Iirc he was influential in the semi-final versus Spurs like.

It is strange one, he scored a couple of braces in the FA youth cup this season and does seem to have a lot of talent, maybe guilty of not being a team player. I thought maturely looked weird myself when I read it back myself:) had to google it to be sure, it is a word apparently.

Maturely

adverb

  1. in a manner demonstrating maturity of attitude and behaviour

Back to the talk before about just because we won the under 18's league doesn't mean they're going to become good first teamers. I think the biggest difference between this time and the 2011 team is we have Martinez as the manager of our first team, Roberto has shown that he will give games and put faith in the kids. Moyes was often criticized on little attention he payed to our youth, especially in his later years here even Keven Sheedy was ranting about paying no attention to our youth teams on twitter a few months back.

Under Roberto we seen Barkley and Stones become important parts of our team, Barkley made the World Cup squad and despite no one even thinking he'd be any where near the England national teams for years Stones just missed the squad but even a chance to go, who would have thought. We also got to see Garbutt make his debut, Browning and Ledson both got to be around the first team too.

If there's a promising player not ready to be around the first team yet he's also more than happy to send them out on loan and give them first team action at a club.

If any of the players are going to make it they've now got the best chance possible.

Er..lads, I just heard Sheedy speak.

He's Scottish, lived in Liverpool for ages...and he sounded Welsh?!
