Everton Youth Teams Thread

The England Under 21's Euro qualifier v Wales is on Sky 1 tonight at 19.30. I think Garbutt will start and Browning will be on the bench, Eric Dier and Michael Keane are likely to start at CB, Keane is currently out of contract at Man U. I think Browning will get a game in the under 20's Toulon Tournie though.

And Jake Bidwell is doing very well at Brentford. Him and Adam Forshaw will be in the Championship next season. Both were in the League 1 team of the year. Wouldn't be surprised if both ended up playing PL football again.

However this doesn't mean we were wrong to let them leave. Without the 100+ games they've played in League 1 they would be nowhere near as good as they are.

I registered on a Brentford Forum to see how they rate Forshaw and Bidwell.

Forshaw is League 1 player of the year - they seem to think he is the best player in the history of the club and nailed on to play in the Prem one day. Technically excellent and works really hard.

Bidwell has improved so much that they again reckon he is by far the best left back in the league and should be in the England U21 squad.

I'd love us to get Forshaw back one day.

be good to see how they do in the championship, have to think bidwell is unlucky not to have been selected for england u21s

We have a wonderful academy and it's a shame we let those players go so early.

Roberto will change all that.

Not sure he will to be honest. It is very hard for any club challenging for Europe to blood youngsters. However good Forshaw/Mustafi/Bidwell are now they weren't and aren't better than the players we already have in our first team.

I'm not a fan of the B team idea but support the idea of long term loans or sale with buyback clause (with coaching provided by the parent club) to preferred clubs. In this case we could have sent Bidwell/Forshaw to Brentford on a 3 year deal and then had the option of taking them back, or selling them on for a higher fee to another club at a later date.

That Walse right back looks uber-turbo gash tbf. Fortunately he has worked out that he can let Redmond cross under no pressure all night and not see one connect.
