Everton Youth Teams Thread

As mentioned above, Kenny was pretty solid and got some good crosses in. But he is not confident in his ability to beat a man (which is not necessarily bad in a full back) - he tends to pass sideways or back when challenged a bit like Galloway or Garbutt. He was motoring up and down the right (and often ignored) so tired towards the end of the match.

Ledson didn't play.

i think coleman was fairly similar until he had that loan spell at blackpool which gave him a big confidence boost.

Interesting line up tonight in the 1-0 win.
  • Everton says:
Everton XI (v @RCDEspanyol U21s in @SuperCupNI): Gray, Jones, Feeney, Foulds, Robinson, Walsh (c), Baningime, Charsley, Evans, Henen, Dyson.
Feeney and Foulds forming the CB partnership after having played together in last season's u18 before moving up, should form a good partnership if allowed to develop although young for the "u23" PL competition.

I wonder how it will work with Holgate, Brendan & Pennington in and around the first team next year. Will they just float between squads? I'd think it was a tad unfair on Feeney & Foulds if their place in the time was fully dependent on the needs of the first team at the time. Great test for them in the PL2 though.

Foulds is a year older than Feeney so no longer eligible for u18s , while Feeney can play there if needed e.g. FA Youth Cup or to give him game time if more experienced CBs play. Foulds will have more of a challenge as they moved him up to u21s last season by playing him at left back and moving Connolly over. Now Antonee Robinson is back to cover LB. it all adds to the interest of who will prove our best defenders at U23 level,as I guess we should call it. Love to see Feeney establish himself , he's got the talent and really our first truly home grown pure CB since Pennigton/ Browning .

ha, that's not exactly been that long of a time ha. Especially not in modern football when teams (including us) by players from all over england, or farther, for the youth teams.

Think he's meaning it in the sense that all of the centre halves we've produced at Feeney's level and above aside those two have been "modern" in their style of play.

Agree though @blueloon it's a big year for Foulds; I can't say I watched him much last year to know how good he is/could be. Out of interest who are the CB's in the U18's now?
