Everton Youth Teams Thread

FULL TIME, EVERTON 1-0 WINNERS

Everton u23s moved top of the u23s league by 2 points after beating leaders Man city u23s via a wonder Calvert Lewin volley, everton now have 22 points with city on 20 points, next u23s league game for Everton is away to southampton a week tomorrow [mon 28th november],

but before then they now play there 2nd game in the international cup this wednesday home to Hertha bsc,a win could and probably will get them in next round, the 1st game was 3months ago when we beat Reading

...thanks for the updates, much appreciated. Look forward to seeing the goal.

Good win when you consider some of the players in their lineup. I heard Davies took control of the midfield.
I looked at it differently. I saw our line up and thought, that's a really good team we've put out there. You look at players like Holgate, Kenny, Davies, Walsh, Dowell and Calvert-Lewin, and you're thinking I'd really like to see them be given a go in the first team.

Can anyone see any similarities with 1984, when the likes of Sheedy, Reid and Steven were promoted to the first team.

...I'm not sure that scenario is the same, Reid and Steven were established professionals before they joined us.

And Sheedy too. But IIRC they weren't getting regular first team football up until Christmas in the 83/84 season. And the reserve team under Harvey were flying.

I accept it's different in that the lads in our reserve team now are mainly teenagers and all 21 or under. But it's the concept that some of them could be promoted to the first team and change our season that I'm comparing. Probably just wishful thinking but I'd like to see some of them given the opportunity.

I can see the similarities but unlike Kendall I see no chance that Koeman will give them a go.

...you have to think Davies and Walsh are the most likely but they have Gueye and Barry in front of them. Saying that, I sympathise with the view that either are worth a go ahead of Cleverley and McCarthy. RK is continually rotating his wide players which suggests he's not happy with them and presumably is not a fan of the youngsters in those positions.

...Fraser Hornby might be another who pushes forward, not least because we paid money for him and he looks like he could cope physically. Perhaps one to watch but others will have a more informed view than me.

I read that we signed him as a midfielder, but woth all the goals he's banging in im assuming we are playing him as a striker. Can anyone confirm?

That could be the crux of the matter...
Kendall knew and trusted Harvey implicitly...
Koeman may have nothing like that kind of relationship (yet) with Unsworth.
