Everton Youth Teams Thread

I'd really like to see the Spanish model,with the U23 teams of maybe the top 8 Prem team playing in the lower divisions.Would give the youngsters real game experience.And I'm sure attendances would improve for the lower league sides as people would like to see the "stars of the future".

the exact opposite in fact when the u23 teams played in that football league trophy. they dont want u23 teams involved and you cant really blame them.

Bit like the Zenith Data Trophy or whatever it was called nobody is interested in Mickey Mouse trophies.I really think both parties would benefit in a league setting.But doubt the Football League would sanction it.

Just seen a headline on the back of the Red Echo;

'Everyone needs good neighbours. Reds win gives blues u23 title'
Jeez best tell Unsy to put down the champagne and send it across the park.

What's the quality of that league like? I remember after Englands most recent, or previous, international humiliation there was much talk of re hauling it to ensure youngsters get more competitive games.

I think JonJoe Kenny must be very close to a start. I think that Last Saturday if he had not played the full game the evening before he would have come on switching to back five.
He is now playing as well as he probably can and there isn't much more he can do to force his way into the team.

Walsh is unlucky to have Schneiderlin, Barry, Davies and Gueye ahead of him and it seems Joe Williams as well.

Dowell seems too easy going on the field to force his way onto the first team under RK.

A great win and no mean achievement considering the money our rivals have spent on their academy structures.At least the blue side of the city has some sort of trophy success to celebrate this year.It's one more than what Liverpool have won anyway!There's some great talents in that squad.The more we get through to the senior squad the better.Great job by Unsy.In a few years down the line i'd love to see Unsworth manage the main Everton team.Between this success.The Bramley Moor dock announcement.A season of substantial improvement under Koeman and money to spend in the summer.The future is looking good for Everton.What we need to do now is get the blend right between expensive purchases and giving the u23's lads a fair crack at making the first time.Anyway well done again to Unsy and the players.CYOB.
