Evertons Net Spend under David Moyes

That backfired a little "Jay" mate didnt it.

Only just seen all this, ive had a word, FFS.

Yeah, I think we can agree that some of the fees are questionable, but its a rough guide really.

Nothing totally concrete.

but you have to ask with moyes spending very little, why arent we lloking better financially, most other clubs would of been debt free if they had run the way we have been for the last decade, but we still seem to be owing banks money.
That's spending on signings alone. You have to factor in wages and, as Del says, other operating costs ie. maintaining the stadium, youth team, travel and accomodation. Must cost a fortune to keep a club in the prem.

This is very true and minor things like travel and Hotels for away games must cost a fair few bob, especially with Moist always getting the Penthouse.

Plus as highlighted, our incomings are quite awful.

It's a fact that Moyes is a genius at working within a 'shoe-string' budget.

If he wins some sort of silverware before he goes, he'd have to be regarded as one of the Everton greats.

Its as we stand today.

We didnt spend the Rodwell money.

Jack Rodwell 15m

Steven Pienaar 4.5m
Kevin Mirallas 6m
Bryan Oviedo 3.5m

Or indeed the other

Joseph Yobo 2.5m
Tim Cahill 1m

Ok lets take into account Loan Fees and signing on fees, lets also take into account wages, TV money, Gate receipts and prize money., I look forward to your thread about this!

We have clearly loaned more players then we have loaned out, but we have also reduced the wage bill a LOT recently, we got off the books 3/4 High earners

But we did get some decent fees for Yobo twice and Yakubu to name 2.

As I said in the OP, this is just purely a NET spend thread.

It doesnt look at any other aspect, its not here to score points, as said it was something I wished to look at and thought I would share.
I got err corrected for going with the 15mil when he was sold, defo 12 they reliably/angrily informed me so 12 mil it is..
In which case since what you put up there is 13mil of signings... That's more than the Rodwell money.. Not including Agent fees and signing on fees which combined for Mirallas, Pienaar, Oviedo, Naismith, Kennedy and the new guy if he ever makes it here will almost certainly be a few mil.
So I stand by my initial response to the comment about not spending anywhere near the Rodwell money.
Admittedly when the extra comes in if he makes it in the City team then that may change but we havn't got that money so we can't spend it.
As for Phyllis Stein's 1.5 mil valuation for Pienaar, where did that come from?

Thanks for the dignity of a quote.

We never got the full £3mill from spurs for Pienaar up front, it was a contract based thing, thats how the loan back when he wasnt playing happened so easy. So....

We have a player, and he is 'sold' for £3mill on the drip
We buy him back 18 months later for £4.5mill.

All that has cost us is a significant increase in wage and the fees accrued our end when he came back. No idea about the terms of the loan, but IIRC we payed all of his salary from january when he joined to the DAY he went back.

There all in the accounts mate.

You can fill your boots to be honest. Im just pointing out Transfers in and out prob isnt a fair reflection of money actually spent on the outlay of players. Over the years i think you could prob add maybe 20 -30 mill we spend on loan fees or signing on fees just as an outlay.

Take Naismith signing on a "free" think he was thrown a million + in a signing on fee? Donovans reported loan fee in 3mill. see were im going here.

Point being just a simple in and out + and - column isnt reflective of prob what we spend on transfers and we tend to utilise the loan, "free" market more then most.

Its important from a holistic perspecitve of a the overall issue, if as many believe and have mentioned in the thread that there is something "fundemntally" wrong at the club because they are going of a simple in and out transfer fees reported on bogey sites like the one you posted.

Its also important in reviewing the managers performence, i think his spend is prob a lot higher then is reflected in permo ins and outs, but yet the perception is hes spent a lot lower, while decsions are important to question like giving the likes of McFadden, Hanahman signing on fees and paying a good few million for Donovon for eight weeks.

Just something I wanted to do, others might find it interesting or they might not.

THIS is not a thread to pat David Moyes on the back, nor is it a thread to compare his spend with other Clubs, its just something I found interesting.

I used http://www.transferleague.co.uk/prem...transfers.html as a source, I scanned thru the ins and outs, they all seem "legit", the thing that "worrys" me the most is Darron Gibson £2,000,000 and Nikica Jelavic £6,000,000.

Both these deals seem high considering amounts we have been told, but I will use these figures, even tho I suspect they are incorrect.

To break it down, its 5.6m over 11 Years.

Now untill 09 we nearly always had a Net spend, in 09 things changed, there was a shortfall in the "Lescott" deal and since then we have had minus Net spends, last Year we sold lots and bought nothing till January, infact we went 2 and a half years without signing anybody.

So prior to 09 we spent 27.4m and from 09 to 12 we spent -21.8m, what did happen in 2009?

*cough*
