Homepage Article Everton's Statement On European Super League

If we were invited and declined the invitation to the superleague then the "classy Everton" shouts make sense. We weren't invited. Our pontificating may be seen as coming from a place of bitterness rather than righteousness.
Except the positioning is the same as when The Big Picture in 2019 was mooted, and certain privileges were to have been 'granted' to us by these arrogant splitter clubs. Everton refused then and went on the record to decry it. This time they have been even more outspoken and Farhad Moshiri was adamant any attack on the pyramid, no matter the financial incentive, was against the spirit of football and the historic pyramid.

I know how certain people may see it, and how many kopites are spinning it (indeed Sky are eulogising Klopp, Henderson and Dalglish for 'beating the breakaway' when I thought Klopp was weak and equivocal on Monday, and far stronger in 2019) to make Everton look bad, but I think the rest of football knows the truth, and we don't need more cynicism from within the Everton side of the debate.

It is so so so important that we get our act togerher and start consitently finishing in the Top 6. The other 13 clubs in the league are looking for teams to disrupt the (laughable) "Super Six" and we can be one of the teams to do it

The thing is that we will never know the answer to that. Anyone saying we would have joined if asked is pure guesswork.
So let's leave it at that eh? Leave that thought within the minds of those who are saying such things and let it torment them as they will never know.
What is indisputable is that after the club statements yesterday Everton were rightly praised from all quarters.

Small club breaks FFP - Europe Ban

Big Club tries leaving UEFA - Nothing

I'll be fuming if Everton don't start pushing the narrative for change in our sport. We have the opportunity to unite the rest of the clubs outside the glamour ones to make change.

It was so noticeable that our name was most prominent among the commentators when discussing those clubs remaining in the PL. Once the scabs had left.
Add that fact to the amount of plaudits coming our way since the statement yesterday and I'm thinking we may be in prime position to be a figurehead for other clubs going forward.

We have to be now - if we dont we will suffer long term from this as this is only just the beginning.

The more power you give to the smaller clubs the less power and influence the big clubs have.

Many privileged and elitists' who seek to protect their positions will always look for the lowest common denominator to justify their amoral attitudes, bitterness and such like will be at the forefront of their minds. Its entirely reasonable not to be invited and have principle thought against. We cant allow ourselves to be judged by those who hold greed in high esteem.
Two noticeable entities for me against the super league in the 14 was Everton and Steve Parish.

Nah because every club would have thought ‘maybe we’ll get a future invite if it goes well, or maybe we can be one of the five teams invited in’. If Everton harboured any hope of that happening then they would never have released the statement they did, they would have kept quiet (like a lot of other clubs such as Leicester West Ham and Wolves did)

Instead we were first ones out the block with probably the strongest denunciation of this in the public realm by anyone and that includes any pundits on Twitter. FFS we were even stronger than Uefa of the PL on it. So those ‘bitter’ shouts can be left to nasty kopites thanks
