Homepage Article Everton's Statement On European Super League

Anyone that thinks Moshiri, a man who recently left Arsenal as he couldn’t grab enough power, would have turned this down...I’ve got a bridge to sell you (never tire of using that line).

The club statement is a good one bar the reference to “six clubs”. It ain’t six clubs, it’s six owners, and Mosh would have been number 7 had the invite come through the letterbox of L4. Owners ain’t the clubs. This ain’t US sports where the owner is king and can move THEIR team wherever they want (which this league would have threatened), and are the first to pick up the trophy the bleedin manager and players won. The unanimous fan backlash that brought down this super duper league further emphasised this. Fans, followed by manager/players in distant second, are the club. The club statement “custodians” in reference to the owners is correct, that’s all they are. Their remit while at a club is “don’t feck it up” before you hand it over to the next custodian, that’s it.

The problem with the "Moshiri would have done the same if only he'd been invited too" argument is that, when project "Big Picture" was mooted a few of the scab clubs earlier in the season, under the proposals Everton were meant to have a preferential position compared to other clubs due to our long standing membership of the top flight, there were reports at the time that Denise Barrat-Baxendale was furious in the meeting about the proposals and demanded an apology from the clubs involved.
With all that in mind I think it's wholy unfair to start claiming that Everton would have done the same when there's litterally no evidence we would and evidence in the past that points towards the fact that we've already passed up that kind of opportunity.

This. In all the comment of Moshiri and Everton and that we shouldn’t act holier-than-thou I’ve yet to see any evidence in any way that shows Everton have *ever* supported anything not ultimately based on sporting merit & the jeopardy of relegation. We’re not holier-than-thou because we’re human. But Everton do have ethical principles. And we often are holier than the lot next door... plenty of evidence. Not just Project Big Picture but furlough etc. That should be another example of the difference in club management culture.

You still pushing this? It's really boring now.

Again, next time you're sat with the Mosh, discussing his moral code and business ethics, please tell him Soysauce said "hi" :bye:

"It wasn't us, honest it was our owner who has nothing to do with us"

6 weeks later "why hasn't our owner spent 60m on Koulibaly to help VVD".

The tea lady is part of the club
The groundsman is part of the club
The CEO is part of the club
The owners are part of the club and their decisions represent everyone connected to the club

The fact that people roll out "well you can't punish us fans because we didn't do anything wrong" is peddled out week after week by self entitled spoilt little brat fans.

I nearly pissed myself laughing this week when my missus said "that was unfair of thr Leeds fans yelling verbal abuse at our players on the coach".

"Yes dear, I'm just shocked that they didn't brick it to give you a proper Liverpool welcome".

lol

I would go to war for DBB:

Dear Connor,
At the end of a challenging week for our game, I wanted to write to you to thank you for your support.

Much has happened since we learned about the plans for a breakaway ‘European Super League’ just five days ago… And while it has been a sad and difficult period, it has also been a period in which the game has come together; supporters, clubs, the media, players and former players uniting through a determined spirit to do the right thing and uphold the ethos and principles of the game we all love.

It was very important to me and my fellow Directors that we made our position – and the views of Evertonians – absolutely clear from the outset. And, as I am sure you are aware, we did that on Tuesday morning through a public statement and the representations we made at the Premier League meeting. We made our thoughts clear – thoughts that were always, unequivocally driven by a desire to do what is right and with supporters at their heart.

I can assure you that I, along with my fellow directors, will be working closely with colleagues and shareholders at the Premier League to ensure the events of this week are not able to happen again – and that appropriate action is taken.

If there is any good to come from what has been a grossly unedifying chapter in the history of our game, it is how quickly people across football came together and spoke up, clearly and with one voice in the best interests of football. I am pleased that, eventually, those voices were heard.

And this should give us hope. The hope that through all stakeholders in the game working together in an open, collaborative way - with the principles of the game uppermost in our minds - we can find a solution which has you and your fellow supporters at its heart, reflecting your ambitions, your passion, your hopes and your dreams.

To support us with this - and to provide input into the now inevitable strategic review of our game - we will be conducting supporter consultation in the coming weeks. This is likely to be in the form of a set of surveys which will be emailed to you. I am delighted the Club will be working alongside our Fans’ Forum on this project. In advance of the commencement of this consultation, if you have strong views or ideas in relation to matters of the last week or any other subject important to you, I encourage you to contact the Forum through the dedicated email account chair@evertonfansforum.com which has been set up for this purpose. Your ideas and your feedback will help us greatly in future discussions with other stakeholders.

I, along with my fellow board members, will do everything possible to ensure the voice of Evertonians continues to be heard, loud and clear.

There will be difficult times ahead, but through working together as an Everton Family and a football family, I'm sure we will get to where you and I want our still beautiful game to be.

Only points deductions will do. Everton have to push for it and get others to do so.

15 point points deduction and see how many of the scab clubs reach top 4 next season. Two at most.

Wasting your time mate answering he has his own agenda. YMCA.

Tell you what, DBB has gone right up in my estimations after this. She’s shown proper leadership.

Seems to me that Everton are one of only a few pushing for real punishments for these clubs. The rest are just happy with the scraps the others don’t need.

I think this email (quoted here) is basically asking people to reply to the address stated in it, demanding sanctions against the 6.
