It was a sure thing as soon as Max blasted up to 3rd by the end of the 2nd lap. Fastest package won on the day.
Monza is not a great circuit TBH. There is not many options for strategy and offsetting

Max hugely impressive as always now, but Sainz DOD

Stop the lap counter under safety car, simples. Might take away an element of strategy but so what.

Or only do it when safety car comes out with 5 or less laps left.

They need to fix the huge amount of time drivers can gain from lucking out with a VSC as well

They just throw the SC out whenever anything happens these days. It just to be an occassional wildcard, now it's something that teams actively plan strategy around - totally absurd situation.

You’d think by now they’d come up with better more efficient barriers that can easily pull apart quickly so you wouldn’t need a cherry picker to lift a car over.

Did you see the state of verstappen’ tires when he got out; they were torn up a lot. He only had them on for safety car laps. Weird

marbles/rubber, they drive over them after the race to add weight to car for post race inspection

Fueling is always an issue with this as they calculate just enough for the original race distance. Not sure what the offset would be for the slower laps under the safety car.
