F1 2024 (and other motorsport) thread

I know this is a boring take, but after being an F1 fan all my life it's sad to see what a mess it's turned in to now. My interest died when Hamilton was robbed for that spoilt brat.

Might finally start watching Indycar or get back in to rallying again.

So odd that you can contractually sign for a future season, then current team still happy for you to drive in 2024. Merc obviously gain from Hamilton and trust his integrity. But when tech staff decide to leave a year in advance, they can’t wait to put them on gardening leave for the current season to protect data etc.

Always been that way I guess, but imagine if Onana pre-signed for Arsenal for next year or 2026. Wouldn’t let him near the pitch.

Not that surprising, could tell from recent interviews that he wasn't confident of Merc overcoming their issues.

It's not much of a risk either, dude is nearly 40 and now has a chance to drive for the biggest team and brand in motorsport.

In terms of one lap pace Leclerc will be very hard to beat given Hamilton’s age, race trim perhaps not so much.

Albon to merc for next year then i reckon

Merc have Kimi Antonelli who is 17 years old and viewed as a future superstar, he's competing in F2 this season for the first time and if he smashes it (as many expect he will) then there is a chance he could take Hamiltons seat in 2025.

F1 going full-WWE to cheat Hamilton out of the 2021 WDC in favour of Verstappen has left a really sour taste. The last 2 seasons just haven’t felt the same, and I’ve been an F1 fan since 1994.

Red Bull are just a loathsome team as well, probably because it’s headed by Horner and Marko, who both come across as world-leading bell ends. I really hope they drop the ball this year because their domination, combined with F1’s obsession with street circuits and racing in places like Saudi just isn’t conducive to what makes F1 great.
