F1 2024 (and other motorsport) thread

It's a nice idea but McLaren have a different approach

They left that late, could have done it way earlier when Verstappen and Leclerc were battling.

Tomorrow should be a comfortable 1-2 for McLaren provided they qualify well in a few hours. Ferrari look off pace and Max has a grid penalty as well as the Red Bull always being slower on Hards than McLaren.

Max could even get another penalty for the safety car restart

It's weird, listening to them, it's almost as if they have no interest in the Drivers Championship. If they stumble into, great stuff but otherwise it's all on the Constructers.

Are wet weather tyres just there for decoration? Are they genuinely not suitable for racing?

I know things would be much slower on them but still it'll serve the purpose of fixing an order for the race. Or is there some issue with larger modern cars just throwing up too much spray?

To be fair there was an actual river running down the Senna S curve across the bottom of the exit. The rest of the track might have been marginal but there's no way a F1 car safely gets through that exit.

Ah right. More of a standing water / drainage issue then?

I've not been paying much attention just checking in every now and then to see if a start time had been sorted.

Basically. This photo shows the gradient of the corner, water isn't stationary either its a river running down the Shell logo and right across that last exit, safety car was moving a massive amount of water going through it.
