F1 2025 (and other motorsports)

I'm still angry on behalf of Piastri when he was clearly the faster McLaren driver and was told to hold position. Dropped back, went wide afterwards, then it all went badly wrong when he should have been out clear at the front. He's been done there by his team today. Obviously anything could have happened with the rain, but Norris was allowed to stay out front and is still in P1 after it's all been said and done.

Eventful race because of the crashes and spins but pretty poor in terms of actual racing.

Very good drive from Norris under constant pressure. Ferrari look gash. Red Bulls long run pace still looks dodgy but only relative to McLaren as they were still comfortably faster than Ferrari and Merc.

Shame for Piastri, only real difference between him and Norris was he couldn't control the rear snapping after coming back on track whereas Norris managed to.

It’s not as obvious as it may seem because Lando would probably have been informed that Oscar had been told to hold position, I think, as they both were clearing a group of slower cars so iOscar could quite easily have looked the quicker car during this if not fully following “team orders”. There was a clear instruction to Oscar once they cleared the traffic that they were free to race again. Sometimes the team comes first but generally they were allowed to race each other for the greater part of the race.

Be interesting to see though how this plays out further down the line if it’s looking like Lando has his nose in front of a strong Verstappen/Red Bull.

Mclaren need to learn from last year when teammate shenannigans cost points, and a potential driver's championship. It's another won scenario, really. Let them race regardless of the situation and it can get ugly, whilst team orders look unfair.

It's a tricky thing to balance.
