A bit more info on Punjab United , this before the 2-1 cup win at Rusthall.
Midfielder Jordan Campbell knows Punjab United are playing on behalf of its community as they continue their Emirates FA Cup campaign in the Preliminary Round against Rusthall on Saturday.
During South Asian Heritage month, the Gravesend-based club are celebrating the impact they have made in the area.
And midfielder Campbell, who has been with the club since 2020, believes pride and respect are built into this Punjab side.
He said: "It's what the club is based on. The motto of the club is 'Pride. Passion. Punjab.'
"Every time we go out to play we have that in big letters in the changing room, which reminds us what we're playing for. It is more than just a game of football. It's about taking pride and representing a community."
Punjab are determined to achieve more success on the pitch, too, having risen to Step 5 of the non-league pyramid since being founded in 2003.
Campbell is aware of how much an FA Cup run could mean to the club ahead of Saturday's tie against opposition from within their league, the Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division.
He said: "It's the magic of the cup, isn't it? It's great for the club. It could help put us on the map and it's a chance to bring supporters to a big away tie.
"It's obviously a bit of money for the club if we win as well so we'll give it our best.
"We've got a group of fans who follows us home and away, they bang their drum and are loud from start to finish.
"Rusthall are tricky opposition but we'll give it our all to get a result."
Campbell reserves particular praise for club chairman and manager Jugjit 'Chipie' Sian, who helped found the club 21 years ago and is still plotting their route into the next round of the cup as first-team coach.
The midfielder said: "Chipie, our gaffer, works incredibly hard every day to improve the squad, the facilities, the ground. He puts a lot of time and effort into the club, which is crucial.
"The background staff like Jason Powell, our assistant coach, all work so hard. There are lots of people I could name that pull the club in the right direction.
"They have helped us bring in some players like Reece Deakin, a very sharp forward who can hopefully get us lots of goals this season, and Ryan Hayes, a creative attacking midfielder.
"It's a nice balance of hard work and quality and I think sets us up really well for days like Saturday. Hopefully we can get the result we all want."
