pretty sure that is gone - if that happened 5 teams would enter next year.

FA Cup. All day. We need silverware. We need to shut those king Kopites up.

Winning a cup is the only way to get a winning mentality. Thread closed.
Yes the major trophies, the league title and Champions league and multiple more minor domestic trophies including the fa and league cups (more than once) for them against a potential one minor trophy, a domestic fa cup win for us would certainly shut them up..

Or just maybe it would hardly make a jot of difference.

Tbh whichever way you try we can't even pretend the FA Cup carries anything like the kudos it once did. For the top clubs it's a minor consolation that won't save their manager the sack if the league form isn't good enough. For others battling relegation or wanting promotion it's very much secondary on the priority list.

Reserve teams which are now euphemistically called 'squad' teams feature in most of the early rounds while TV's Alan Shearer does his annual rant on team's just not taking it seriously anymore. It's nowhere near what it was in its heyday - a nice thing to get but only if it leads to something far better.

Getting both CL and the FA cup would be ideal but there's really no comparison as to which would attract players and give impetus. Domestic trophies are thought largely worthless or at least second rate in most European countries. No CL would rule out an awful lot while having it would be a huge incentive for many to come.

We wont be at Wembley to watch it and this whole season is tainted due to Covid.

I would take a tainted top 4, cos it gives us access next season, I cant accept a tainted cup.
Personally, I don't feel it would be a tainted Cup or that this season is tainted. We may not be able to get to the various grounds to watch our games but we still get to see them, we cheer when we score, we're happy when we win and pissed off when we lose. Things may feel a little surreal at times but all the games are still being played and every result still counts.

Pretty much my stance except for the tainted part, would be more akin on my end to meaningless. What's the point of us winning a cup if nobody can celebrate it? Obviously I know the point etc. I've never seen the club win anything. I would LOVE to see a cup win. But I'd love to see it with a packed Wembley full of blues.

Champions League, this season, would be a much bigger deal honestly. It allows us to bring in a different level of player than Europa or whatever that new one is called. Which, again, helps the push for meaningful silverware next year more likely.

Yes still applies, so if Liverpool don't make top four and win the CL and say Arsenal win the EL then 4th would be in the EL next season.

If however City won the CL or United the EL with at least one of them finishing in the top 4 then fourth would be in the CL.

A maximum of 5 entries per country in the CL with both winning European trophy holders taking precedence over fourth if they themselves don't finish in the top four. So ok with one trophy holder being English and outside the top four but not both.

I said all last season it was tainted, the whole thing without fans is a farce.

I wont change that view just cos they ain't winning it.
Don't forget, only a small number of fans get to see the games anyway, there are 1000s more who cant get tickets for various reasons, funds, location....etc seeing us win the cup in a few months time will be just as enjoyable for them as it would of been with the stadium full of season ticket holders.
