He brings a level of competence to midfield. He isn't going to be the guy winning us matches very much but at the moment the competent platform he brings is great for us compared to what we had while he was hurt.
 
I think that most supporters see football in a very different way to professionals and managers.
Players like Delph are unspectacular and do not seem to be doing anything. However, it is these players that give solidity and shape to a team, they provide the springboard for the team to attack but also the shield for a team when defending.

The problem with Delph is we know he almost cannot go through a decent number of games without getting injured.
 
He did well today and I'm sure he has more in his locker but whether we ever see it because of the injuries is another thing. You'd imagine he'll need to miss out against Newcastle which is a shame because our midfield will be a lot worse for it.
 

He is very much a crab. As far as 'keeping it ticking over' he more often than not just pings it straight back to the player that's given it to him regardless of how much pressure they're under
 
Expected more than we’re getting. Is a competent workmanlike presence in midfield which in our current state is no s small thing, but that’s damning by faint praise.
