Not being able to get out of our own half, attempt an attack, or more than two passes. The performance in that second half against their kids is going to be a stain in our history.

Agree, we all thought this is it, let's get that monkey of our back, now it's even worse.
Mate in work had me off, he said the liverpool kids against us were caught taking drugs.....calpol. Dont you just hate them.

The thing I can't help but wonder is if Delph thinks to himself, "I've got trophies in my cabinet, which is more than any of this lot have ever accomplished. So if I want to yell at my teammates and talk down them, that's my right. That's what being a 'winner' is all about." Given the fact that he was a bit-time player at City and won those trophies primarily on the backs of the greatness of other players and coaches, that doesn't sit right with me.

Regardless of the incident, his impact on the field for us has been minimal at best. For the record, I was never keen on his signing. To me, this should serve as a reminder that next time we look at signing someone like a Delph, Rooney, Eto'o, etc., we should remember that being part of massively talented and successful teams doesn't mean you can just transfer that success over to another club. If the best reason you can come up with for signing someone is that they'll provide "leadership" and a "winning mentality" rather than on-the-pitch attributes, then it's best to swerve.

I think the issue is, swearing at people is not leadership.

He had a lot to say in the dressing room in the City documentary, I remember thinking it all seemed a bit false, you have all those top class players there & then you have him there running his mouth like he's some sort of authority, just didn't seem right a player of his quality acting superior towards world class players.

He was signed by City for their English quota, a cheap squad filler, he was a last resort at left back when City won the league under Guardiola, a sack of rotten spuds could've played at left back in that City team & they still would've p i s s e d the league yet the impression he gives is that he was an integral part of Citys success.

If he was having a go at Siggurdson or Schneiderlin, I don’t think people would mind at all. But he’s having a go at Holgate who’s been one of the few players who can come out with their head held high this season...
You're right, but it's even more basic than that really. The issue is that we're not winning.

People always say they want winners and leaders and certain mentalities, but it only actually means anything when you get results. If we'd won our last two and so were unbeaten in 7/8 or whatever it would be, Delph having a go at Holgate would be evidence of him being a winner, but because we haven't it's evidence of a poor attitude. The same happens all the time. Get sent off for losing your rag in a bad run and it's petulant, childish behaviour showing a lack of discipline within the club. Get sent off for losing your rag during a good run and it's evidence of how much you care and shows that you just hate losing.

These things are - in the main - fake constructs. There are great leaders of course, but as a general rule what people class as a winning mentality or great captaincy is based solely on how things are going at the time.

I expected him to have a similar impact to Barry, but he can't stay fit at all. If we had more decent options he could get more rest time and get sharper.

He's obviously a big character in the dressing room - he could end up being important for us.

He’s absolute chalk and cheese to actual top pro’s like Milner or Barry.
Couldn’t agree more mate. The other two were at the twilight of their careers but desperately wanted to show they still had something to offer to their new clubs with their professionalism and application. Compare to Delph, barely played since being here and lording over other pros due to were he has come from, not by what he has done in the pitch since being here.

I know or assume I'm jumping on the bandwagon, but what an unimpressive signing this has proven to be. You only had to watch him for a England to see he can't pass. Standing there in loads of space for City and passing it to De Bruyne, Bernado et al doesn't make you a player. Unbelievable to difference in signing someone like Barry compared to this joker.

He can stand there an talk about medals all he wants, it doesn't mean he is or ever has been a good footballer (at professional level). He's at best solid, who seized with both hands the opportunity that was offered to him. Instead of realising that, he acts like he's a star player. Holgate shouldnt be afraid of him in the slightest. They are at worst equals.

Can I just say in defence of Delph; it’s not his fault.. he’s just [Poor language removed]. Had a life of having smoke blown up his arse and seems to believe his own publicity; stood out in a [Poor language removed] Villa side and was carried by better players at City...
