I dont think Usminov will shift from Arsenal. It provides him and his family the veneer of respectability - to be known for his role in a blue chip and traditional English football club does a laundering job on his previous existence as an oligarch with some very dubious history.

Yawn - still opinionating........had your brain checked yet?

Nope that's wrong, some arsenal shares came on the market a few months back and kroenke bought them, usmanov showed zero interest .

Only time he increased his shareholding was by buying out moshiri in r&w holdings.

Even them Usmanov only actually increased his shareholding in R&W holdings, not Arsenal.

Not that I think he's coming btw.

Owning Everton wouldn't be much different from having shares in Arsenal in that sense though.

Without control there mate, it does nothing for him, most casual footy watchers won't have even heard of him, and none footy people definitely won't have, contrast that to abramovic, that's the reason why he will end up owning a club in the near future.

Whilst I accept the principle of a football club owner being merely a custodian in many ways, that highlighted sentence is la la Dave.

A football club owner isn't there to service the ambitions of supporters with his own cash. If they choose to do so then the supporters are dragged along for the ride, but barring a handful of clubs, the professional clubs in this country are largely run within their own financial limits. Owners have no responsibility to the fanbase to do so though, neither should they be somehow subservient

‘The workingmen of Liverpool represent the backbone of the club’. George Mahon 1892.

Accept no dilution.

There's a fair bit of ambiguity in what's been written (what I've seen anyway), like the term "in due course". Whether there's any timeframe stipulated in the official documents, I have no idea.

Also, it's not clear if a party makes an offer at the published share price, are the holders obliged to accept?

I do understand that now Usmanov has reached 30%, he is entitled to trigger a reverse bid, so maybe that's why he wanted Moshiri's 15%, so he held that threat???

Re the argument "why should Kroenke care, he's got all the power", well that's not strictly true. As long as shares are available he has to comply with rules & show transparency. If he owns 100% he can de-list & will be free to do as he wishes, just as the Glaziers did at Man U.

I have an opinion that's diametrically opposed to that ^^^ cap in hand mentality where Everton are concerned.

You start out from a point where the owners of this club are supreme entities and shouldn't be questioned; I see them as lucky gets who through finances are able to determine how the club evolves, and for that privilege they have to acknowledge that they are not sovereign, that they are there to service the ambitions of supporters and should recognise their subservient role to the community as a whole.
It's not that he shouldn't be questioned, but why should he be questioned after 6 months. So far he has dismissed a failing manager and his team and replaced him with a highly sought after young manager and DoF. In the mean time he is slowly improving the playing staff and has put the blocks on a Stadium move that was destined to fail anyway, whilst exploring new options, one being the home we all want.

What is it you want him to tell you?

Problem is it's hard to see Kroenke doing anything that would allow Usmanov to go bankroll a rival. I.e he would probably say that anyone who buys Usmanovs shares isn't gonna get anywhere near the board, to try and scare off potential buyers.

Our only hope in this regard is that someone wants to buy Usmanovs shares who is dead happy to just sit and collect their cheque. And you have to imagine that there's many easier and less risky ways to invest 400m, so why would they do that?

Have you heard of a company called Google?

Shares in Google are sold all the time, people buy these shares to make money, everybody who buys these shares knows they will never own Google or even have a say in how Google is ran.

It's nice idea, but in reality the clubs had no backbone for a very long time.
I'm not sure about that mate. Any owner of Everton who doesn't realise they're here to warm a seat and advance the club for the benefit of supporters rather than themselves will quickly be disabused of that. Ask Peter Johnson!

Yes Dave, thats why Kenwright was allowed to remain in charge for 16 years.

Your going to look very silly at the end of this window.

Prepare yourself.
