We have spent about 5m of what people thought would be a 100m budget. That's not great either.

Plus I think rumors that Rom had changed his mind and had bought into the project were also nonsense. Otherwise there would have been no reason to enter Koeman's office to tell him he's staying.

Basically until very recently it looked the plan was to sell both Stones and Rom and bring in a load of players to strengthen the squad from teams below us. Hardly what we were expecting no matter whether we bought well or not.

In fact now we aren't selling Rom may mean that's us done for the window. We will soon see.

A constant refrain here since July is to judge the club at the end of the window.

I agree if the window were to close now I would be very disappointed. It would mean we had not addressed obvious deficiencies in the squad.

We should though, see 3 more signings at least. I would hope to see that as a minimum.

If that turns out to be Hart, Koné, and Ghezzal, (and Lukaku staying) I'll call it acceptable but not great.

For me if we could extend ourselves and get a striker in as well, it turns into a very decent window.

In general terms though, expectations have been lowered to a significant degree from the heady days of being linked with Witsel and Mata.

We had a net spend of £27.7m in 15-16 and a net spend of £33.5m in 14-15.
Makes this window's net spend even worse.

However we both know that was spent using loans that were secured on the increase in TV money. Basically our owners have yet to put anything into the club apart from paying off the clubs debts which had been allowed to get out of control again.

if we ignore the elephant in the room that is Niasse, he mostly spent the money well, to be fair, mostly.
I think he wasted a lot on cheap buys who were never likely to be good enough however they might make us a profit further down the road.

What he didn't do was unearth any real gems like an Arteta or Pienaar etc which as an Everton manager is needed to allow us to keep at our relative league position with no support from the owner.

His one big saving grace was he had the balls to pay the money needed to get Rom.

I disagree that the likes of kone Cleverley and McGeady and Robles were in any way acceptable. You could even argue on present form McCarthy is a poor signing. The jury very much out on Mori as well. So that's at least 6 questionable transfers in addition to Niasse.

Robles will come good i think- still young for a gk and has showed flashes

And mori was a good buy

There are a lot of good clubs in this league struggling to spend money, I can see us signing another 3 to 5 players by the time the window shuts.

I find it amazing some are doubting Moshiri's intentions, he's going to have a good go at getting us into the elite again, he's the one we've been waiting for I have no doubts about that, he's been here 5 months, Rome wasn't built in a day and all that.

But I want it now and if I dont get it now I will SCREAM and SCREAM and stamp my feet until I get it.
