So Alisher Usmanov was to have his shares in Arsenal sold by now and Everton bought before Christmas..... A lot of heated debate about this with a fair few people adamant this was happening. Never really seen it happening myself, just wondering what peoples thoughts are on this now.

My sources tell me it's a done deal mate. It's going to be unveiled on Christmas Day with a big picture of Usmanov dressed as Father Christmas on the front page of the Everton website.

Well, they did attract our leading (only ) regular goal scorer to the club and will almost triple their investment by selling him next summer if reports are to be believed.

They also attracted a talent so hot (at the time) that Barcelona would not sell him to us without a buy back clause.

And although it finished tits up, they did attract the most high profile, world superstar player we have had at the club in many a long day, beating the RS for his signature.

;)

Errrrm, you do know that Barcalona have had a club policy for quite a whilst now of inserting a buy back clause in all younger players they sell, Bojan for example had one when they sold him, as does Traore at Villa, Fontas at Celta, Dos Santos at Villareal, Halilovic at Hamburg.

Last season they actually activated a buy back clause to take Suarez back from Villareal

Thats 7 players at the very minimum who left Barca at a young age in recent years that they included the clause in, it's the clubs policy and doesn't mean anything that Deulofeu had one.

Basically they have learnt the lesson of being burnt in the past and losing young players that subsequently they have had to pay huge transfers for to get back the club so just include it as a safeguard - Fabregas and Pique being the most notable two that its happened with.

means absolutely nothing about how Deulofeu was rated by them - it is just a financial cover for them in case a player develops late at abother club, and also it appeases the Barca fans as they know any academy lad that suddenly becomes class elsewhere can be borught back easily

We can't offer players European football, and we've been dire for the last 2 and a half seasons. Moshiri's pockets maybe deep, but if we can't attract the players we need it's not Moshiri's fault.
So you are saying we are in downward spiral because we'll never be able to attract the best players. Does this mean that Moshiri is just looking to make money on a stadium deal, like a latter-day Gregg

There's been no evidence, thus far, that the Mosh's pockets are particularly deep.
Hope that changes in the winter window and we see the £60m we 'almost' paid for Koulibaly but I'm not holding my breath.

So our debts haven't been cleared?

If only people questioned Kenwright in the last 16 years, the way Moshiri has been in the last 5 months.

So our debts haven't been cleared?
The long term debt has been satisfied and the short term debt has not. What this specifically means in relation to the financial input of Moshiri I've no idea.
I know it cost a lot to fire Martinez and acquire RK but again I'm unsure of Mosh's contribution.
I know there was incredible hype about a massive budget and we ended up spending nothing net.
Overall I think it fair to say that, thus far, his pockets have not been particularly deep relative to expectation. Hope that changes but I'm sceptical it will.

If you miss the boat you suffer the consequences. We had a chance to make our mark and we failed again. Our demise here is hardly a surprise. He has an even harder job now. But it is what it is. Least we know now the challenge facing us and the sheer depth of our on field ineptitude. The task is harder but it's more obvious.
