Throwing money at it won't be enough. £30m on Bolasie tells you that.

Koeman needs to get the players we've currently got performing better, which they're definitely capable of.

Plenty of other teams have thrown money at their problems in the past and it's gotten then nowhere.

you also have to question the wisdom of locking his 3rd-choice manager (after Jose/Emery) in a really expensive contract, especially someone like Koeman who has a pretty average managerial record overall and who shows no signs of building for the future (that comment about not knowing the Saints lad was telling).

On the field, the buck stops with the manager. Off it, it's with Mosh. The almost relentless criticism is fair game. Both have much to prove still.

Hopefully come Feb they will have turned it around, for if they don't this season could get really grim.

It is grim if he does not use a few younger subs or under 23s lads when the slowest player in Southampton's teams flys past three of your defenders Charlie Austin FGS hes no speed merchant - baines barry jags all past it sorry to say it but they are!

If this feller doesn't tip up that £30M Sissoko money in January there's going to be some severe questioning of him. He's under a lot of pressure in that window.

If you miss the boat you suffer the consequences. We had a chance to make our mark and we failed again. Our demise here is hardly a surprise. He has an even harder job now. But it is what it is. Least we know now the challenge facing us and the sheer depth of our on field ineptitude. The task is harder but it's more obvious.

Not to be nit-picky Tim, but it isn't a demise. As in, we finished 11th and are currently higher than that, and are still (miraculously) higher than we were this time last term.

It's a real slump though, and a very concerning one now in terms of it hitting home how crap/stale the majority of this squad is.

Y'know the comment about the Saints lad was taken as part of another quote as well?

The full quote was something along the lines of 'I wasn't aware of him. I saw him a few times for the U21s and wasn't impressed.'

That's his judgement.

I think it's fair to say the task is now harder than it would have been had we hit the ground running in the summer. That's not to say he can't pull it off. And at least it should be abundantly clear now the scale of work we need. But it's a tough job. Need something in January to get the thing in motion. Hopefully this is our getting worse before it gets better period.
