Its like we haven't made a signing all summer

Everyone was saying the same last season - then September 1st came and all those being called pessimistic were correct.

The Sigurdsson deal shouldn't be taking this long; there is no striker in sight; we've lost our two best players from last season without replacing them; the preseason has been average at best and the manager is not happy. It's hardly Disney at Everton at the minute.

I don't feel we've pushed on as we all expected. The season starts on Saturday and they have only have 22 days to finish the squad for what hopefully is a long season. They have had ample opportunity to put things to bed. The early cluster of signings seems to be more and more likely the Lukaku fee - this isn't good enough. It's not what they've been promising.

People get called bedwetters for highlighting facts but it's those who are constantly defending our shortfalls that are the tedious ones.

This particular phrase was bandied around the media and on Twitter - it was never attributed to anyone at the club.

Yep.....and Koulibaly and Witsel. Guess what.....we got messed about by both players and club. Napoli messed us about by refusing to sell, Witsel messed us about by wanting the biggest payday from anyone willing to pay it. Napoli confirmed we bid £60M for Koulibaly.

How is that the fault of anyone at the club?

To be fair, the whole transfer window was a mess last summer. Not helped by aiming at CL players who had no intention of joining 11th place Everton. You don't like Bolasie? Personal preference, you're wrong though.

As mentioned above, Napoli confirmed this.

January window, nobody goes on a major spending spree in January. And the players we got were quality.

What would you have done? Played him in the U23s to piss him off or have him sulking about the pitch week in, week out? He wanted out, he got out.

He's not the sharpest tool in the box? Badly advised by his agent? Legs under threat by trackie wearing meffs? You choose, at the end of the day, he wants out against the clubs wishes. See ya Ross.

Who's to say it won't be completed in the coming days/weeks? But it's so easy to grab onto the conspiracy theory isn't it?

The window has weeks to run yet. Chill your boots.

You can choose to fume and go with this if you wish, personally I'll wait until the window slams shut to see where we are with the squad and the signings RonKoe wants to bring in. We know what positions he wants, lets see if he gets them.

I don't remember Napoli saying we bid 60mil?

Mate we signed 12 players this summer and broke the transfer club record twice how can you compare that with last summer ?

Siggi I'm told is overpriced and we need to swerve and now we haven't signed him yet the thing is a disaster ?

Not to sure about your facts mate and as for the Lukaku thing so your argument is that we spent only the money we got for him ? We have spent more than the Lukaku money already and have a £45m bid for a player so that don't work does it ?

If you honestly thought we be doing a Man City ? We can't do that even we had a billion pound budget.

12 players? Seriously? Kids going into the under 23's that may never see them light of the first team are not included.

We've sold Lukaku, Deulofeu and Cleverly and barely spent anything else. That's a fact.

Everyone is overpriced.

Who mentioned Man City? No one is expecting that standard but my previous comments remain. Sell out best two and most important players (or about to sell Barkley) and have no replacements in place 4 days before the season starts.

Wanted out, couldn't cut it and are you freakin' serious???

Lukaku wanted out, Deulofeu couldn't cut it physically. And are you freakin' serious about Cleverly? Besides you, who gives a rat's ass about him?

You've obviously misunderstood.

I clearly meant the circa £110m we have recouped on those players has barely been exceeded in our purchases thus far. Cleverly was grim.

Ah. Apologies then. Still, count me among those who feel net spend isn't the be-all and end-all. Just because you spend a ton, it doesn't mean you have improved. See: Liverpool. Lukaku was the only one of those three, to me, who we'll miss, but at the same time I feel we've diversified our attack so that we don't have to rely on one man to do the bulk of the scoring. I know we haven't set the world alight yet, but I'm confident that form will come sooner rather than later.
