Ask yourself a question though, if those players got told we are going to spen xyz on players in transfer window would they have stayed were we started showing some ambition?

This pretty much sums up what Lukaku said about signings that were now `doing very well` and ambition of the club when interviewed

His second interview were he said " Staying is not an option" pretty much sums things up.

How many on that list would you call "top" players who would interest Europe's elite and would have demanded CL footy?

Vieira was on a free, the rest I don't think fit into the category of players we're talking about.
Well firstly, that's absolutely nothing to do with the post I was responding to, which only mentioned not being able to splash the cash.

Secondly, Adebayor and Tevez absolutely fall into the category you're talking about. United didn't want to lose Tevez, and they'd just won the league and reached the CL final.

If Moshiri had shown a bit of ambition last summer and invested in the team they might have been swayed.
A Mike Ashley interview was shown on a Newcastle v Spurs match preview and he spoke about the funds available
to Benitez for transfers. He said that they couldn't compete with the likes of City and Chelsea - 'We don't have 40 million pound stadium naming rights' - and he can only spend money generated by the club.

'So, is he going to have a 150 million given to him tomorrow? No he isn't because we don't have it'

Peter Shmieceal (spell) said after, that it didn't matter because Ashley isn't allowed to fund transfers anyway, but that that Benitez should have much more than the 32 million he's spent this Summer.

He repeated and emphasised the point that Ashley is not allowed to supply funds for transfers. Nobody argued the
point.

If that's the case why are some of us expecting Farhad Moshiri to hand his own money to koeman and Walsh to spend?
