So in reality as I feared nothing has really changed has it? I keep getting told to stop being paranoid etc but in the cold light of day until he acquires more shares things are basically status quo

We are over-complicating this. Moshiri structured the deal this way with 49.99% now and an agreed path to majority because it meant Bill and Woods favoured his bid over others and he got what he wanted. Effective control now, full control in the future.

I'd bet that investment will be forthcoming in the summer onwards, Bill and Woods get to bask in the glow, share the credit and gradually ease out of the way over the next couple of years. The added advantage is that Moshiri gets a lot of "Everton is special" ongoing brain-washing.

The proof will be in the actions but I really find it very hard to see how this will not be at least a moderate positive for us from this summer onwards.

A lot has changed mate. We have a new largest shareholder who is committed to buying more shares and putting significant funding into the club.

In the last week we have seen the go ahead for finch farm development, a reduction in season ticket prices and the announcement on increased transfer budgets for the summer.

I think you are totally correct mate which is why initially we are unlikely to see major funds flowing into the club.

I would imagine by the summer he will have acquired a significantly larger holding, leading to a complete purchase or new investors coming alongside.

At present perhaps here will be no great change however BBC Radio Merseyside (and others) were reporting that he is obliged to increase his shareholding and invest as part of the deal. I am not an insider, I can only go on what I hear like everyone else.

Esk says "initially" about funds not flowing - perhaps in summer he'll have acquired more shares and they transfer kitty will be huge. Roberto Martinez has already said he will have a greater pile of cash to spend. It's not like we can splash transfer cash until the window opens anyway.

Other areas for investment such as stadium redevelopment I imagine will take longer to organise by their very nature anyway? I understand your point, however I take the view that before this news we were standing still, now we have a very real chance to move forward without our identity being swallowed by outside interests as it were (Venky etc).

On her way out to work this morn the wife informed that I sat up in bed last night, slapped the bedside cabinet with quite substantial force and shouted, loudly, one word. So loudly was said word shouted that I'm also informed it woke one of the kids up, which seems to have in turn caused a bit of a t'do ergo - she's not happy...

Anyway, that word, she says, was 'RATIFIED....!!!!'

Then I lay back down, went back to kip it seems.

From this I conclude that I've spent WAY too much time perusing this forum over the last few days.

Everton though innits.

Logically it seems almost inevitable that this will happen. Still, I guess until we see it in action I'm going to be feeling a mixture of anxiety/nervous excitement.

To counter your anxiety, no one buys 49.9% of an underperforming company (which is what Everton are) without having plans to turn it around. He knows we are under-capitalised even before looking at the stadium issue.

If he had no plans to address the under-capitalisation and the stadium he would not have acquired this initial stake nor have an agreement to acquire more shares.

I think there is some trust built up here between Moshiri and Bill, they've been discussing this for a year, they have become friends no doubt.

Only holding 49.9%, I'm not expecting that to put the blockers on anything, Bill is now waiting for Moshiri to follow through on his promises before giving him more shares, the number one priority for any deal from Kenwright's point of view is a stadium/redevelopment, it's obvious to me Moshiri has promised to sort this.

Rs fan to me , " You might have all that money now , but it won't give you any class "

Erm, ok
Hahaha!

They really need to be careful, they will actually choke on that bitterness one day.

I'm cautiously optimistic for the summer and beyond now. As @The Esk put it, it makes no sense for someone to spend so much on an investment if they don't intend on improving it. Time will tell just what the exact level of incoming money will be but I'm certainly happy with the way things have progressed.

I suspect your significant other might be a tad more concerned if you had drooled, "Moshi, you beautiful, loaded hunk of a Blue" before hitting the pillow again ;)
