It's nonsense. The summer was always going to be sell to buy beyond Gray/Townsend. They hoped to raise money in sales but there wasn't much money changing hands anywhere after 18 months of empty stadiums/pandemic uncertainty.

They were banking on PSG buying Kean for one thing.

Unlimited budget yet the number 1 managerial choice was Nuno who'd just been binned from Wolves.

Assuming that's true, it's bizarre that Usmanov, Moshiri, Brands and Benitez were all taken by surprise at the club falling foul of with P&S rules when the rest of the world knew we would.

Also Benitez was always selling Rodriguez.

Because Ancelotti would have got more than 60m

If there was unlimited spending, he would have given more funds to Ancelotti than Silva. He gave Big Sam pretty much that.

They were clearly aware that spending had to go down. I'm pretty sure that was part of Brands role.

1: Ancelotti would have got more money.

2: If Benitez had half a brain he would have known himself about our spending.

3: Moshiri is an accountant, he'll not be unaware of accounting rules.


All i take from this is that Benitez is asking his mates to talk rubbish in the media...

...when in fact he looks like a dope.
