Mad thing is before the appointment of Rafael people were moaning about Bill wanting Moyes back, hilarious how dumb they looked when you consider what then happened, imagine moaning about Bill wanting a manger who gave his team a shot of Europe and then Moshiri goes for Rafael and we almost get relegated.
The people who moan about Kenwright will never learn
I can’t believe there still people who believe kenwright has done a good job

….I have wondered if BK endorsed the Benitez appointment or whether he advised Moshiri against it.
If he was against it and advised Moshiri it probably wasn't the best idea and Moshiri overruled, he should have resigned his Chairmanship.

He'd never do that, he'd lose his prime spot and he'd already promised Tony a seat for the season ahead.

I think Usmanov channelled as much money as he could via sponsorship and advertising, considering the authorities and other clubs had their beady eyes on us for any flagrant breaches of the code.
Do you think? We didn’t have a sleeve sponsor for some time - there’s ways like city have done where u pay a third party to sponsor you thus getting around the related parties issue. I get the problems now but not convinced they’ve been totally savvy before then

Again, what was the alternative?

Most of our money back then went on new contracts, decent contracts, for our better players. (and rightfully so).

We could not spend what we did not have.

And that is fine. Tbh I'm not one that really lays into Bill as there were circumstances in play, but to say we were better run back then is a fallacy. We led a hand to mouth existence and had we had the number of people online then as we do now this place would have combusted.

We got away with it due to a number of factors, including finding Moyes who was the right manager at that time, having an asset like Rooney to stop the foreclosure right at the start, that bit of cash helping us rebuild, increased TV money as Bill wasn't putting in any cash and most importantly of all back then there were only 4 decent teams so if you had a good season you were in with a chance of Europe. Now 6 teams are up there and there are a group of 4 j7st below that are fairly well financed and fighting over the final slot. That means increased competition not only for league places but for players too. What people really mean when they say I wish we could go back to Moyes and Kenwright era is they wish we could get the same sort of results and final league position - not how we were run or to a certain extent managed as we should have done better with that team than we actually did.

It's not so much that, there are people who think today's problems were not caused by Farhad but were caused by Bill.
The club Moshiri bought he has destroyed, by himself
Mate kenwright been chairman for years he should know what we could spend wot we couldn’t etc same for the ceo this is under there watch .moshiri Is far from blameless to his meddling has killed us , but from the time moshiri came we were playin catch up because of how far we’d fallen under kenwright no trophy’s for donkeys years etc and he’s went and rushed it ,everyone got caught up in it

Yeah but he might of done, but he dosent own the club, he cant tell the boss how to run a business he owns. I don't believe for one second Moshiri and Kia were not buying players themselves, just to move money, Iwobi being one example

The buck has to stop with Moshiri but it doesn’t mean the senior board members and chairman suddenly get a free ride. The in-fighting between Kenwright and Moshiri is fairly well documented and has contributed to our problems - if Kenwright has zero power or influence, what exactly does he bring to the table?

I really don’t know why you’re still going along with this stupid act pretending it’s “Bill vs Moshiri” like they’ve not been working in tandem together the whole time. The sooner both of them are a million miles away from this club the better off we’ll be.

You do remember Bill telling us all that he spent 18 months getting to know Moshiri and that he had great football knowledge and was the perfect person for Everton? He brought him through the doors solely to keep himself front and centre with a nice £30m in the bank. Absolutely staggering that people still defend this atrocious Chairmanship. His letter to Duncan highlighting that one time we got a “4th place finish”. Embarrassing. Single handedly responsible for dampening down expectations of a whole generation of Everton fans, to the extent that you have his defenders saying he kept us up with no money! We had no money because he couldn’t/wouldn’t get investment. Him and his moron owner mate are jointly culpable for this mess.

Not sure it was the way to go. It takes time for things to work with Moyes and Moshiri and the fans wouldn't have had the patience with him. Chances are if the pandemic didn't hit West Ham would have been relegated and Moyes sacked, they were on course to go down. But that gave them a reset and they just stayed up and then Moyes started to build a team there. We were 17th in 2003/04, he was a disaster at Sunderland and United and would have got little out of our current squad. He's a good manager but he's not a genius, things need to be right for his methods to work.

Moshiri just made a really stupid punt with Benitez that was never going to work.. Kenwright wanted Moyes in 2019 when his reputation was at it's lowest and when we got Ancelotti who got as much out of the squad as he could. Moyes wasn't available last year.

Newcastle have just signed a 7.5m sleeve sponsor deal. (Our main shirt sponsor is only 10m). Their sleeve sponsor is partly owned by their owners.
