I read the name Simon Goodley and laughed.

More Guardian Cold War BS.

Its the part of Moshiri hiring a solicitor and them writing to the Guardian that's interesting here.

Guardian playing with fire or have an ace up their sleeve.

If Moshiri has broken the law, that's on him as a private citizen, but he's a British citizen so different from say Abromovich and seizing assets etc - would be my take.

So overall not much to see here bar mud slinging.

I've no idea what this means.

Wasn't Abramovich paid?
No, he didn't get any of the proceeds of the sale.

Note that Moshiri has not said he isn’t not being investigated in that letter though . If he had said that they’d have printed it

I guess the main issue would be if it was to be proved that Moshiri was a front for Usmanov as the real owner of teh club, which I doubt anyone ever will.

I would like to say that is the case but in all honesty, something isn't right with the whole setup at Everton, apart from the obvious stuff that is.

Yes, The Guardian are perpetuating this whole Cold War BS narrative, as they always have but the fact they are reporting that OFSI being involved in itself raises questions.
No Smoke without fire as they say!

I'm sure Goodley has some irrational hatred of all things Everton but it is troublesome Dave.

Trying to be unbiased, all does not look rosy, despite the Close Season being upon us and safety secured, I fear a long Summer of uncertainty over the whole show that is Everton.

You have to prove it mate - they would need hard evidence, i dont know if anyone saw it, but there was a forensic report done recently by some government Dept that showed agencies with links with sanctioned individuals - Bridgewater was one - its also were Moshiri keeps his Everton holding. Its things like that if they can prove or build an evidential case - that can take a long time - if it ever meets the threshold. Even that can be circumstantial as they were business colleagues. Like if we worked together and used the same bank for our accounts.

This is clearly a "yet" situation though. It could go that way.
Then again it may not.

I dont see a quick "out" as far as the club is concerned and that is a massive priority.
Oh it’s a mess alright. But calling them sanction police is like calling VAR the offside police, just for dramatic impact.

If the treasury have been misled then surely action (prosecution or forced action) would affect those individuals. Must be a duty not to damage the company/club and its employees which were there long before any investment.

Obviously it could be indirectly damaged by forced sales, uncertainty, reputations damage etc.

Possible moral dilemma for the Treasury as sanctions were designed and implemented to strangle the economy of the aggressor. I may be naive here, but profligate wasteful investment in the north of England seems a few steps away from that? Particularly when Mosh has probably triggered general investment in a section of a city that badly needed it.

But if there have been false representations, then yeah. Choppy waters.
