It's an appalling waste of money, and a damning indictment of those charged with spending it.

I thought the net figure was higher though.

Strip down the regulations, and this is an average of £35m over the seven seasons.

In terms of trying to compete, we messed it up royally, but the spending is chickenfeed, not only compared to the elite, but in bog standard terms today.

The bigger issue we had was paying kings ransoms to very mediocre players on extended contracts, with no resale value. That's where the damage was done.

I was solely looking at Transfers, and Loans (Fees included). I did not factor in any wages or other expenses (i.e. stadium) that may be factoring in to that "media quoted" number.
