Jay-Jay and Campo were a decent duo, Anelka did alright. Some of it wasn't bad there. It was horrible everywhere else.
He had Djorkaeff there too for a while, long past his best of course, but like Jay-Jay was occasionally given some scope to be slightly more than just a hoofer

As bad as it was though, I'm sure Bolton fans think of it as a heyday of sorts.

If we had kept alardyce we would have been finishing 8th and winning and losing by the odd goal. Games would have been terrible to watch and we would have been calling for his head.
While potentially we would be been better off it would have been no fun support us
yeah, its been a bundle of laughs since!

I fear that we might regret hounding him out for finishing 8th.

We as fans have at times had ludicrously high expectations of players and managers alike.
I wouldn't agree with regretting hounding him out because in the long-term he was far from what we needed. However, I said at the time, he was unfairly judged.

He was brought in to ensure the club weren't relegated, and he did that successfully. He was unapologetic about his means and did exactly as expected.

If we're talking about successful appointments, he is one of the few you could say have meet the criteria, but equally you could see it wasn't a long-term match.

I totally agree with the ludicrously high expectations part because we - the general fan base - were expecting top signings and a push for Europe.

Moshiri's money went to everyone's head, whereas in reality we needed patience, a realistic build up and to look at stabilising ourselves again in the top half.

Perhaps letting Silva go when he did is the most recent regret.

Hard to disagree with any of that.

I understand why Moshiri binned off Silva despite the pleas of Marcel Brands. The sight of him stood on the Anfield touchline? At that moment he was the saddest man in football and in need of a break.

Brands is badly at fault there too mind, replaced Lukaku with a youth prospect, didn't replace Zouma and our Gana replacement wasnt very resilient.

Edit: back on topic. Allardyce needed binning off. The football was dire. He often claimed his 'style' of football was a winning style. We didn't see much evidence.

I did enjoy his trolling towards the end though. He did the same at West Ham.

Leeds fans have gone absolutely mental with that result yesterday, in the sense they think it will somehow keep them up. we all must have watched a different game, as City could have had 6/7/8, and took it easier in the 2nd half, it must have been the closest and widest 2-1 you could have seen - if there is such a thing lol

I would have kept Sam for another year. Just for stability.
He is a big character and can't imagine him putting up with the nonsense that surrounds ate club for the board.
Though he deserved a bit more time myself.

He deserved another season for sure,it would have been interesting to see what he could have done at a club like Everton.

He’s surely past his sell by date now though. Mind you so was Hodgson.
