Fee agreed for Yak

To put the cat right amongst the pigeons- I think if Vaughan keeps developing the way he is the front pairing could well be Vaughan and Yakubu (once signed of course)

He shouldn't have been left as a last option after all else had failed. I presume this is the case anyway, i mean not even the blues couldn't drag a transfer on all close season and pre season :dodgy:

I think there was a lot more to all of this than meets the eye- I dont think Benfica wanted to lose him and the joint ownership has been a headache that isnt easy to resolve.

i believe Moyes wanted him all along and its been just the fine details to iron out.

He won't be shaking his head. Competition is healthy, and if he doesn't like it, he will hate life in football. If anything he can use Yak to help develop his game and become a better player.

And Yak should insist on Everton. He Nigeria team/room mate is Yobo, and Anichebe is looking to be breaking into the Nigeria fold in the next year or so. Good place for a Nigerian to be.

I'm sure Vaughn will look forward to the competition, but he really can't catch a break, can he? I remember reading reports from camp that Vaughn was looking awesome and he would be our "secret weapon" this year. Hopefully he still will be, maybe as the sub coming in at 60 minutes...

I love the deliberate and strong style from Nigeria. I saw their u20 squad play very composed and impressive football. The more the merrier at Everton!

Do you honestly think manny would be on the verge of joinin if we had of signed that lucho bloke from porto. i doubt it very much.

Its not the stature of Efc i'm questioning, i know i support a great club with lots of history ...... its just i struggle to remember the last time we signed a super star who plays on the continent, who by some reports has top europian teams i.e. Real, Valencia and top italian teams chasing him. Didn't want to sound negative, just think i'm being realistic. We shouldn't have let manny go back to Benfica after his loan, in my opinion this kids going to be one of the best midfielders the prem. Ok, we signed Arteta over some European competition in Spain. Yobo was wanted by Arsenal before we signed him. Fernandes was wanted by Benfica.

The problem with these so-called superstars is that their ego's are bigger than the wage packet, so is that the sort of player you want at the club?

We are signing cohesive players who have to do Karaoke before they can play! Imagine some of these [Poor language removed] from the contintent doing so?

If your happy with what we get and your happy that we don't sign people like Lucho then cool, I agree with you.

:)

And how is this being realistic? We don't have anywhere the financial clout to compete with the richest clubs in the world. Maybe, given another 5 years we will, but not now and not soon.

Moyes has proven himself a good negotiator in the past, and we shouldn't be so quick to criticize without the full details.

After the loan, we had no choice but to let him go back. He was their player, not ours.

You missed my point, i thought it was unrealistic to bid for lucho and we should have agreed a fee with Benfica a hell of alot sooner. like when his loan had finished :)

Well we never had the funds in place. One week Moyes is talking about struggling, then we sell Beattie for a nominal fee of £50 million and its everyone down to the Wilmslow BK is buying.

Didn't have money then ;)

And why was it unrealistic to bid for Lucho? He would have been a great addition to the squad, but he obviously didn't want to come to England. He is probably happy in Portugal and that is that. Doesn't hurt to try.
