he can have 0 goals for all i care as long as his presence creates space for aj to operate.

I can understand your point nate, but I truly want double figures from his boots also. We need to become prolific at the front and tight at the back. I think we have the players to make that possible. Time will tell.

If Yak is a regular goalscorer and AJ is still having a bit of trouble that raises the question what happens when vaughan comes back. Its a problem because you want the expensive purchase to do well, but you don't want to bench AJ.

once the cup games start we will be crying out for 3 to 4 regular goal scorers. Benching people will not be a problem.

True. Also we need to be able to rotate players then, and having a good goalscorer to throw in as a sub means that our attack won't suffer if we do a tactical substitution in the offensive line.

Lets do some quick math here.. with fictional numbers.. but plausible.

Goals in the league:

AJ: 10
Yak: 10
Anichebe: 5
Vaughan: 5
McFadden: 5

Would give a total from strikers: 35 goals

Midfielders: 20 goals (Arteta, Cahill, Osman, Possibly Fernandes)
Defenders: 10 goals (corners, FK, Stubbs shooting....)

Would give us 65 goals.. almost 2/game.

And no figure is really that unrealistic.. at least to my eyes

and if there is a problem with workrate/stamina from yak, then he just plays 45 minutes and is told to give everything he has while vaughn subs in 2nd half...

I think we have the players too. If (and a big if) everyone plays to their potential this year, we may be sitting in a position next summer to keep some cash in our pocket!

If arteta is injured 3/4 of the goals will be good as gone as he is the man who provide all these assist.
Yak and AJ is nothing if they play in front of a flat midfield - Osman, Faddy, Neville, Carsley. Our midfield is woeful I'm wondering when will manny be officially our player.

We are just more thorough than others, and usually keep a lid on it, not feeding the media on every single little detail.

this is my first remark on the yak and he will defo be the clubs top scorer and in the top 10 in the league.

get in great signing.

oh yes, we mean business.

I'm glad the board has learnt the painful lessons from bucharest and villareal... we can't keep asking moyes to pull wins out of the bag when we don't have the team to warrant it.

Hopefully now we have the makings of a great team we can fulfil our potential.

But knowing Everton, where nothing is ever simple or predictable, we'll struggle for a season until we win the league in 2009.

Good old unpredictable everton... you gotta love em.

we deserved to beat CL semi finalists villareal, the header they scored at goodison was as unbelievable as a tony hibbert goal. a real shocker.

i hope someone somewhere has collinas number, and really hurts him permanently.
