Financial Fair Play investigation

It's interesting you mention accounting. I listened to a podcast earlier where Maguire was referring to City's case and he stated that their auditors signed off their accounts "so we have to respect that". But Everton's audit is not to be respected but questioned according to Maguire, because the club changed auditors.

Axe
Personal
Grind

As for me going off on "interminable tangents" - go and take a look at your posting history in the stadium thread. You've spent the entirety of your time on this forum advocating - IN A NEW STADIUM THREAD THATS ALMOST HALF COMPLETE - that Goodison Park be kept in mind for consideration still!!!

Physician heal thyself.

Lol!

Everton changed auditors yet again (after insisting they weren't only a few months ago) after the previous ones walked! The latest have then had to include a statement of concern to cover their backsides. No axe..... basic facts. After which an independent commission was instantly called in. As a shareholder I've received the club's accounts ever year (strangely not the last 2yrs?), and I've never seen a similarly damming state of affairs. No AGMs, coincidence?

Feel free to show were I've said Goodison should be kept in mind for consiideration still with BMD half built..... I'll wait.

Stop misrepresenting others and/or making stuff up. Facts will set you free!

My personal opinion is that u are correct and I think EFC will be found guilty. I initially thought that there is no chance of a points deduction but as time goes by I am thinking there maybe a small points deduction. PL may want to make an example of a club to make it appear they are serious about P&S
Why shoukd Premier League clubs get off the hook for probably bigger overspends thab what Championship clubs are penalised for- you know full well the sort of penalties that the EFL push for and these rules are harmonised to some extent at the behest of the PL.

My mindset is charge/refer one, charge/refer all if required. If it's 4 or 5 clubs over a year or 2 who fall foul so be it.

I think they will pull a mugabe style stunt where by ignoring all scrutiny and criticism and carry on regardless

No AGM or accountability or engagement with the fans and will continue to not come to the home games.

If we want Kenwright out out it’s going to be a king slog unfortunately as he really does believe he has the support of the majority of the clubs fans and us fighting the good fight.

He won’t entertain another view at all
Nah.

Moshiri - a clown himself - will either sell up and the new owners sweep them put or he remains and replacesd the current board, as it's in his interests to do so.

They've gone that board. Gone.

We now have until 25/26 to find a new shirt sponsor - again the PL change rules that impact financially on certain clubs - its fine being moral about it, but asking clubs to go out and fill a £10-£15mill annual hole in their finances, in a condensed market where so many clubs are going to be looking for a new sponsor.
Yep. It's ridiculous the double standards.

Any Everton defence team worth their salt should be able to rip them a new one with all the countervailing arguments they can throw at them.

Couple of other random observations.

1) Sigurdsson. By all means exclude his final year of Impairment and wages from the calculations. Probably £13-14m per year all in all as that was the year for which he was unavailable. By all means. The rest seems sketchier player wise IMO.

2) Auditors. Did Kieran Maguire actually say that? Surprising if so given that both Derby and Sheffield Wednesday albeit at EFL level found thst audit sign off was not the final word on their accounts. Rightly so too I think as a principle or it could lead to some absurd decisions. "If the auditor says it's fine then it has to be signed off" could lead to all manner of issues. The surprising bit there is that Kieran Maguire says audit sign off should be absolute for Man City.

I suppose you have to respect the auditors word But not accept it unchallenged for FFP analysis for all clubs. If that makes sense- ie audit sign off should not tie the hands of the Governing body analysing the accounts.

They passed the accounts for that year in question. End of story. The statement of concern is another matter and reflects the unwritten understanding between the owner and club for financial security - the informality of that is the issue for the auditor not the books. Your conflation of those issues underlines the feebleness of your argument.

Goodison / new stadium thread: sorry, I appear to have hit a raw nerve.

You have literally used a thread about a new stadium as a vehicle to show boat about your own - admittedly understandable - view that the Goodison footprint is capable of providing an upgraded home for the club.

Now I have huge sympathy for that and your arguments and knowledge in the area are persuasive. However, WTF is the point now in arguing that case? It's one for the archives not a thread on a half-built new stadium.

Maybe in future check before lobbing a few half bricks about that you're not standing in the centre of a large green house?

Presumably any defence team worth its salt would tell you they'd better stick to factors relating to the accounts in question only.

As I said, I'm still waiting for you to show where I've said GP should still be considered while BMD is half built.

You can't!

FFS.

You’ve seen the goals we’ve conceded this year mate, yeah?

lol

I'm more hopeful about the law firm we've hired though:

We now have until 25/26 to find a new shirt sponsor - again the PL change rules that impact financially on certain clubs - its fine being moral about it, but its asking clubs with less monster commercial revenue or a sovereign wealth fund to go out and fill a £10-£15mill annual hole in their finances, in a condensed market where so many clubs are going to be looking for a new sponsor.
We always knew this day would come though

The only people to blame for the mess we are in is the board and owner. Everything else - reported bias in the media, proposals of points deductions etc - all comes from the board and owner being utterly clueless and putting us in a position that was wholly avoidable.

My two penneth is that we should only consider what will happen to us, as in my eyes it is a certainty that once we are punished in a way that they see fit, the rules will change using our plight as an example of how they had it wrong and it was only meant to be a guide not a method with which to relegate clubs. The P&S will be scrapped or the threshold doubled due to 'inflationary player demands'.
That's comforting. Thanks for that Jacko.
