Financial Fair Play investigation

That paper is a joke these days,it used to have a modicum of respect now it has columnists like Allison Pearson who just make stuff up,as you say clickbait

Its nonsensical. Hilarious in fact if the issue weren't so important to us.

To believe this league will be looking to place us in administration...which is what would happen as no one will buy us as a going concern headed for the Championship...and pile onto a club building a state of the art stadium for £700M making it a white elephant is - I would contend - a very very unlikely scenario.

Maybe a suspended points deduction...maybe. But IMO there is no case to answer here. Its been forced on the league by desperate clubs looking for a few quid compensation.

End of story.

12 point deduction for a charge aimed at the construction of the stadium. One that PL signed off on and also provided further oversight on transfers. 😟

If the scab 6 can get away with a small fine for basically attempting to destroy possibly even end the Premier league then we should be able to get a similar fine for spending too much money.

They’ll give us a 12pt deduction and City a 30pt one.

Of course a 30pt deduction will have little to no serious impact on City (they’ll miss one season of CL).

Meanwhile a 12pt deduction kills us

Aren't the commission there to hear the evidence and determine guilt or innocence? any punishment will be delt out by the pl?
Completely in the commission’s powers to dole out punishment.

Slapping a club with a 12 point deduction (point deduction is something the PL have never ever done) based on P&S on any club will put off the money sharks putting money into the league.

The brand would be tarnished.

Then there's Man City and their 115 breaches compared to our 1.

Flip side of the argument

The league won’t want sides to over spend and avoid relegation as a result of this meaning that other clubs are relegated into the championship.

Because that’s how sides like Leeds will view it.

Sorry if this sounds a bit flippant, but can we afford a massive fine? Might be the one year a points deduction (especially if it ends up being less than 12 points, which I suspect will be the case if it's given at all) is actually preferable. Not sure you want it at the start of next season with teams like Leicester and Leeds potentially coming up.

No doubt in my mind we are being punished. My understanding it relates specifically to the 21/22 season where we finished 4 point clear of Burnley with a superior goal difference. For that reason a 3 or 4 point deduction is what I anticipate. We get punished without opening up a can of worms with relegated clubs
