Financial Fair Play investigation

….remember going the Irish Derby many years ago with my mates. The big race at the Curragh was on Sunday, so on Saturday we got The Dart from Dublin to Howth. I’d got a tip for one running on Saturday, so all my mates and even people at the hotel backed it. There was a little bookmaker at the bottom of the hill, he said he’d pay us out in Sterling if we backed in punts. We went to a boozer at the top of the cliff.

Anyway, this tip wins easily and I had it in a multiple with 2 12-1 winners. We virtually wiped that bookie out. He didn’t have enough money, so had to pay us in punts. As I walked out the door he said “F Off and don’t come back again”. Happy memories of The Dart. Happy memories of Howth.
Typical Northsider !!:

Not really from what I've read. Someone said that he mentioned it on his podcast, knows a bit more than most, can't say for legal reasons, and that it doesn't feel like anyone at the club is overly concerned.

Al Myers said the same.

Simon Jordan heard that the PL case put forward is apparently flimsy or at least poor that improved (so even they are making it up as they go along).

The PL are wedded to Everton over this. They just can't extricate themselves from it.

My suspicion is that the PL have shifted this sideways to people they know will get them out of a fix and to finally rid themselves of the Burnley and Leeds stalkers.

Talking to a very helpful and chatty guy in the box office today. He seemed to think there is still pressure from Leeds and Burnley to give us a good kicking.

No doubt. Because they're chancers who want dome compo.

But the PL have handed them their day in court now so that's that.

We'll see whether they had any basis fr their claims.

I can't see how they can. The PL allowed pandemic spending and took Everton hand in hand through those years without thinking to investigate them until Burnley and Leeds kicked up a fuss.

The only excuse I can see to punish us so harshly is if we committed serious fraud. That is about it.

When did we lose the USM sponsorships ? Did that affect our FFP losses and if it did could that not help us out in this direction situation.

Never mind that! We're in the middle of building a £700 million stadium.

If that's not a mitigating factor, then I don't know what is.

They can take whatever 'loss' they've adjudged us to have made, subtract what's been spent on a city defining project, and I think they should actually find that we've not done too badly.

Of course, there's always the spectre of us being the senior partners in this agreement we have with the league, and how they don't like that lol

That's just speculation though.

What we know is that the original reason we are being investigated on is overspending on players and that auditors reports were signed off and the PL had access to all that.

Its natural to scratch your head and try and makes sense of this thing with a more elaborate reason for the inquiry against Everton, but I'd say the reality is that the PL know as much about this as they always have.

It's uncharted territory for them. We're the guinea pigs.

Fundamentally it's to prove they can regulate their own league without an independent review. Nothing to do with "fairness" or "reputation" of the league.

These fellers fined clubs a paltry £1mill for wanting to leave the league for the European Super League. A far worse crime IMO than trying to prove we've cooked some books
So whatever penalty they impose, we immediately appeal it and it all gets kicked down the line
