Financial Fair Play investigation

It's about not what I want

Its about the poor judgment that Bill Kenwright and Denise Barrett Baxendale have displayed to put Everton Football Club in this position in the first place

Why people are deflecting and claiming Everton have been treated unfairly I don't know

We should have no expectations of being treated differently. Or the rules don't apply to us.

Rules Bill Kenwright has literally signed the club up to for EFC to participate in the Premier League

Some like yourself on here seem to think we do. It seems
No, it is. I'm asking you what punishment this club should face.

It's a fair question given that you obviously want to see Everton punished...

Read @theesk article and his prior projections for the accounts

Everyone knows the scale of the issue and indeed just because Everton have been trying to delay the inevitable by delaying publication of the accounts doesn't mean people don't know what's coming

We know there's an issue as Premier League announced what they did yesterday

I have read the Esks article, and spoke to him privately before publication.

The assumption from the article is that the PL will go from accepting uncrystalised losses, to now not accepting those same losses in the space of 12 months, with no notification for doing so. I am not sure how that can legally or morally be justified. What has changed in 12 months to produce such a change of position?
And we do not know there is an issue. The PL want some clairifiction, the club feel they have complied. We have a system of innocence until guilt is proven (normally in an impartial court, but I doubt we will be afforded this) but nothing has been found to state there is an issue. Again this is just a point of order.

The Esk has given some projections and estimates. His work is very valuable and I am full support of him, but even he would note they are projections and estimates. We can only talk concretely once we have seen the audited accounts.

If Everton Football Club had a proper functioning governance structure (that hasn't been decimated by Bill Kenwright and Denise Barrett Baxendale)

The shareholders could in an AGM or EGM put a motion forward to remove them

...

But they can't because Bill Kenwright and Denise Barrett Baxendale have seen to the cancellation of AGM requirements. Plus are blocking calls for an EGM

The PL could remove them. They have a fit and proper persons test. They removed Chelsea's board last season. A regulator can do this. They circumnavigate the processes of the club.
They have chosen not to until this point, and have spent the duration of the period in question in dialogue with the club, assuring them everything was ok, essentially buffeting the culprits position.
As a supporter, who has been calling for the board to be removed, I have every right to ask for some explanation on this, and expect some clarity on what complicity there was between the PL and the exec's who have now failed these rules. Journalists should be putting FOI requests in for this stuff.

I've given my view on what the end state was in the last post I tagged you in. With my post on it

I expect this to be yet another hugely expensive error by Bill Kenwright and Denise Barrett Baxendale

That will cost every fan and shareholder

Yet people like you will be looking blame anyone but individuals currently occupying Everton Football Club

But accountable to no one. Not our shareholders. Not our fans. They've decimated accountability at the club. Deliberately

Are the Fan Advisory Board (FAB) going to hold Bill Kenwright and Denise Barrett Baxendale to account?

Really? 🤔

I'm not sure that article is up to much

The Premier League can't act without EVIDENCE

They were given the evidence by Everton Football Club on 01 March 2023 when the club handed over the accounts and projections for T+1 T+2

But just because someone acts, to seek to gain further clarity, does not automatically mean you are guilty.
If the police charge someone (which is actually further along than where we are currently at) that person does not automatically go to prison. There may be some evidence of wrongdoing, but that needs to be scrutinised.

Well the PL signed off the accounts last year, and did not raise concerns. They also re-enforced this in the summer meeting with clubs (I have that on pretty decent authority). Up until 20/21 the accounts were accepted, with the agreed revisions, as being under £105m. There can be some question about whether they were right to do that, but they definitely did it.
If they did or they didnt, they certainly have the option to review at a later date, which it appears they have done.

I suspect Leeds and Burnley didnt let it rest, personally.

Premier League isn't subject to the FOI act.

Premier League works on behalf of the 20 members.

If we cannot govern ourselves as a football club we are not a proper functioning football club

Why we must have an EFC Annual General Meeting or Extraordinary General Meeting - urgently

Do we know when the specific allegations will be detailed? They come out about City with a detailed list of allegations spanning the best part of a decade. Surely if the allegations relate to information already in the public domain we’d have seen the specific allegations by now……or is it possible they haven’t been made public until Everton’s latest accounts are made public? If that was the case then the further breach would relate to the most recent accounting period?

The FAB is useless, but they have no authority to hold them to account. The PL do, and to date haven't.

Spell it out FFS!

What do you think is the correct punishment for Everton?

A fine?
Embargoed on transfers?
Points deduction?
Relegation?

Read pages of this thread and still none the wiser. Better to just let the dust settle I think.

I don't buy into those that are playing the victim in this though. It had been obvious for years that what we were doing in the transfer market was questionable at best. We spent over 500m while having one of the oldest / smallest stadiums in the top flight. There was no money from European football. There was ridiculous wages being paid out to dozens of players and players sitting on our books for years while contributing nothing on the pitch. Add in the cost of a brand new stadium and you have an absolute mess of a situation.

All conjecture/ guessing at this point !
Two things I’m sure of :
1) Everton is a poorly run club !
2) If any club is going to receive an excessive or too harsh penalty ( pts deduction etc ) …. It’s Everton !
