Injuries, death, terrified animals and mega pollution all in celebration of the state and crown torturing hanging, drawing and quartering human beings that had a plot against them. Absolutely they should be banned. Most people don't even know what it represents and it has absolutely destroyed New Year. You used to be able to hear church bells and Ship horns at midnight and people walking down the streets chatting and hugging each other. It was magical. Now it is like shock and awe in Baghdad.

As a kid I loved them, my parents didn't have much spare cash but they did always find some to buy a small box. I spent most of the night watching other peoples displays. The fireworks then we're mostly light shows, with an occasional fizz and bang. Over the years they have changed, the emphasis now appears to be on the noise they make, the light show being secondary. This, to me, is the root of the problem, as it causes issues with many animals and also some humans suffering from trauma. Unless the emphasis changed back to the light show, objections will continue to be made until some sort of sales ban is in place, and that will be a sad day as it is avoidable.
