The original celebrations were burning effigies in Guy Fawkes’ likeness in support of the crown. Parliament ordered a national day to celebrate the safety of the king.

Had a great evening with the mrs watching the local bonfire and firework display. Stopped to pick up a kebab on the way home and now relaxing with a beer in the garden with my dog enjoying watching other people’s fireworks. Sorry guys.

The council stop putting on public fireworks displays so now it's left to rival drug gangs to battle it out for the biggest longest loudest noise.
