Football Is Dead

Do any of us actually know the laws of the game??

I mean what defines a penalty, ball to hand deliberate handball, any contact of the hand with the ball??

Is contact in the box a penalty??

Var still depends on the decision of an individual so it is totally flawed.
Use goal line technology and maybe use it for offside but only if it is blatant. If it was like firminos yesterday then give it to the attacker .

See I don't agree with this. Although I think Firmino was onside, I think they should have very specific parameters where they draw the line and if it's a centimetre over, then it's offside.

What we've learned, very quickly, is that there can be no room for subjectivity, because the officials will take any chance to come to the wrong decision, whether through incompetency or pure corruption.

I think we have to now accept that, although VAR sounded great in theory, in practice it simply doesn't work.

A real weird feeling coming away from the game tonight, absolutely gut wrenching for Gomes, I thought it was his knee had been dislocated but there was a few challenges in there as he went down, just horrible. The other emotion is that football is totally ruined and I’m really starting to believe it’s corrupt or scripted by Sky et al, the refereeing standard is just absmyl, how can they have so many bad refs and again I mentioned this last week never be held accountable for their performance it’s absolutely shocking what is going on and we the fans are paying for this, it’s become an absolute circus.

Here they are!

Yes, I know/knew the hand ball rule prior to that tonight, because it was so well publicised ahead of the season that I read up on them.

Tonight was so obviously a penalty that I knew it was on first replay and I was just annoyed they were delaying giving it because I wanted us to hurry up and obviously miss the penalty so we could get on with going for an equaliser.

I didn't expect it for a moment not to be given.

As for contact, the rules give guidance on that - they are subjective. Some of the guidance is more concrete than others, but generally they are up for interpretation by an official on match day, which is unavoidable. It's why I'm not raging about Richarlison's one, because although I think that was a definite penalty, I can at least square that circle by saying the referee saw it from a different angle/on the run etc. and that it wasn't 'clear and obvious'.

The handball though? Nope. No justification for why that wasn't given, absolutely none.

For people at the ground today, did anyone have any idea what they were checking for over the penalty? I´d imagine it was 3 minutes of not having a clue what was going on which just ruins the experience for the fans.
No I didn’t have a clue what VAR were looking at for Everton’s possible penalty when Alli handled the ball, most around me didn’t seem to know. On the big screen VAR - possible penalty, nothing else- then after the long delay- No Penalty.
Then the crowd singing and telling VAR where to go. VAR is driving fans, at the game, to distraction.

I never thought I'd be able to just walk away from the club and football in general but I'm perilously close to it now. I can't take this crap week in and week out all the while paying the obscene prices for the privilege of doing so. Literally the only thing i enjoy about football these days is meeting freinds before and after the match.

What is the actual point of following a sport that is so blatantly corrupt. They don't even try to disguise is anymore. Football is 2019 absolutely disgusts me.

I don't want sympathy, you're not going to get it anyhow...everyone thinks their club gets f'ed over. I said in the match thread when that Spurs goal went in, I felt nothing. This team puts itself in a position to have this stuff like this haunt them...it's a systematic failure in attitude. There's ifs and buts damn near every single game because we aren't good enough to dominate a match and we let this stuff creep in and have an affect on the game.

Get good or GTF.

This, use it for offside, if they’ve gotta look at it 50 times or whatever, the benefit of doubt is with the attacker. Penalties: let the ref review it thru the monitors, which is why the Monitors are there? if The ref blows for a pen ( or not at next stoppage) he can review it and decide, only he should be answerable for subjective decisions.

My dad jacked in his ST 10 years ago and said although he still loves the blues, he absolutely hated the game and refuses to put any money into it. Transfer fees, wages, slimey agents, games bent to the core. Can see why now tbh, it's soulless.

Think this is my last season at the age of 36, season ticket holder since I was 11, this isn't the same game anymore if it's going this way, I am seriously fed up with it, I'm not going to be a TV extra in the stands while they make a drama and excitement out the game for the viewers at home, [Poor language removed] them

The fact that no advantage was gained from the handball is the justification surely.

...because I genuinely think it’s true.

Wow. Theres wrong decisions given against/for teams every week, City seem to be the hardest done by, why would you think there‘s bias towards red? Firmino‘ (goal), Origi foul v Man U, The VAR have had opportunities to favour the RS. And they haven’t.
