Former Everton Centre Forward Duncan Ferguson steps into management.....

WISDOM: WE CAN TAKE FYLDE UP

Mick Wisdom wasted no time on his return stating that Fylde should be aiming for automatic promotion this season. "I'm determined, as I know all the players here are, to get Fylde back into The Championship. The squad is strong and we have good competition in all positions, it's healthy and I'm excited to be back at the club that made me who I am. I struggled settling into life in Yorkshire, I felt more comfortable on the coast. The whole vibe this town has just lifts you and everybody here wants to see us do well. I've had time to play in The Championship and now my new challenge is to achieve that once again with Fylde. I can't wait to pull that white shirt on and play in front of our supporters again."

Before our inevitable mid-season slump.
It's every bleedin' season. Apart from Kewall's reign of terror when it was a season long slump.

If we could sort it out without the need of kidnapping by superman's like @maccavennie then we'd be snacking on owl pizza in Milan and foie d'albatros in Paris rather than mystery meat burgers in Ebbsfleet (bad example as they're delish) as we won our 5th consecutive CL trophy.

Sunderland vs AFC Fylde
31st July 2032

The Stadium of Light was almost at full capacity for the first game of the 2032/33 season. Ferguson stuck to a familiar line-up and Mick Wisdom was on the bench this afternoon. Fylde came out from the kick off and won the corner just after 25 seconds, John Jones took the corner and found Sam Gibson in the 6 yard box who headed to make it 1-0! It's a dream start for Fylde! Morton plays the ball forward on 28 minutes, Tyrone O'Neill holds it up and finds Henderson, he hits the shot but it's blocked, it runs to Wilson, the crowd urge him to shoot and he hits a low drive into the bottom of the net! 2-0! Fylde put in a great first half performance and John Jones was putting dangerous balls into the box, 4 minutes into the second half Jones crossed again and Ferguson hit the shot on the half volley from outside the box and the keeper got a hand to it but it just crept over the line! Fylde very convincing this afternoon. The time had come on 61 minutes for Mick Wisdom to make his return wearing the famous yellow and black. The crowd gave him a great reception as he replaced Patrick Uttridge. Tyrone O'Neill was having a quiet game and Russell Carey came on for his debut. John Jones whipped a fizzing free-kick into the box in stoppage time and Carey won the header at the back post and put it wide, what a way that would have been to start your Fylde career.

AFC Fylde vs AFC Wimbledon
4th August 2032

=Wimbledon result.webp

Fylde's first home game of the season was against promotion hopefuls Wimbledon who dropped off the pace last season and finished 11th. Ferguson kept the same side that beat Sunderland but had a lot of options available to him. Henderson came forward at pace on 11 minutes and the crowd picked up, he slotted a great ball through to O'Neill who shrugged off his marker but the keeper got down well to save the shot. Tyrone O'Neill was having a quiet game and was brought off on 60 minutes for Russell Carey. 67 minutes saw the whole stadium stand up for the homecoming as Mick Wisdom made his return to Mill Farm. Patrick Uttridge made way. Jimmy Dube made some good stops and commanded his area very well not allowing Wimbledon to latch on to aerial balls. Another clean sheet for Dube and a good performance but no goals for either side.

DF:We played well defensively but didn't have a great deal to do. In attack we tried to carve them open, Hendo and Wilson went close but they restricted us to long shots and done a good job themselves.

TRANSFER DEADLINE DAY

Whitehead-Davies.webp

Fylde are pleased to announce the signing of Henry Whitehead-Davies who joins on loan for the season from Leicester City. The youngster is yet to make his breakthrough for Premier League side Leicester and has successful loan spells in League Two. "He represents a good backup option for us and can play anywhere across the back which adds depth all over the defence." stated Duncan Ferguson speaking to Sky Sports News.

Bury vs AFC Fylde
7th August 2032

Ferguson was asked before the match about how he planned to use his squad and he stated players will be given a chance based on their training performance and their professionalism. If any players hit a run of poor form he would simply take them out of the side. He affirmed his players must stay competitive and be ready to take their chance. He brought in strikers in the window and it was Colm Goode on loan from Tottenham who got the start against Bury. Christian Hutson got his first start of the season playing behind him. New on loan signing Henry Whitehead-Davies was on the bench. Sam Allaway was on the bench for Burnley against his former club. Colm Goode had his first chance on his debut when his shot from 20 yards was dipping but went just over the bar. 31 minutes in, Wilson got the ball forward to Henderson, he turned on it, knocked it right to Hutson and he tried the low shot from outside the box which beat the keeper and made it 1-0! Jack Quinn replaced Goode with just over 20 minutes to go and Henderson got the ball wide to Jones who tried to cross for Quinn but it was cleared, Henderson got on the end of it taking it down nicely and hit a well struck shot into the bottom right corner! 2-0! He's off the mark! Whitehead-Davies replaced Mark Morton with just under 20 minutes to go. Fylde defended well against Bury coming forward with Feeney and Gibson performing well to deny them. We thought it was all over but on 94 minutes Bytheway crossed low into the box and Jack Quinn belted home a left footed shot for the third! The icing on the cake! Fylde are still yet to concede a goal with Dube getting 3 clean sheets out of 3.

DF: A top performance, we defended well again and got the goals to give us a convincing win. We have to keep this up and continue playing to our strengths. We have a trip to League Two Ebbsfleet in three days for the League Cup and it's likely I'll rotate the side for that.
