Former Fylde Assistant Manager and number 2 to Duncan Ferguson begins his own career into management.
JP: I'm looking forward to getting started at a club that was part of my playing career. I feel the time is right and working so closely to Duncan Ferguson has paid off dividends. The man knows football and I have learnt a lot from his management style. He won't be out of work for long. I can see him having a succesful managerial career.
Group.

League Cup First Round
It was wholesale changes for the trip to Ebbsfleet in the first round of the League Cup. Mick Wisdom partnered Ellis-McKimm-Forster in the middle with Donnelly and Morris on both flanks. Colm Goode led the line for Fylde. Goode was linking play well in the final third, he came deep and brought Donnelly in and took the return ball but his shot from outside the box was just wide. Time was ticking in the second half and no real chances were being created. Ebbsfleet had every man behind the ball making it difficult for Fylde. Euan Henderson was sent on with ten minutes to go to try and steal the winner for Fylde. The match was 0-0 after 90 minutes and was to be decided on penalties. Ebbsfleet won the coin toss and were first up in the shoot-out. Bloor lined it up against Dube, sending him thr wrong way with a shot into the top corner. It's Fylde's best penalty taker Euan Henderson first up for The Coasters, he goes to left and Stockton gets across to save it! Lawrence with the chance to make it 2 out of 2. He puts it down the middle and sends Dube to the right. Colm Goode to try and get one back for Fylde, he calmly slots it and gets Fylde back in this shoot-out! We need Dube to stop Smith from the spot, Smith goes to the right and it's in the bottom corner, 3-1. Mick Wisdom took the third kick for Fylde. The experienced midfielder slots it beautifully into the bottom right corner! Carl Hope was next for Ebbsfleet and he made no mistake making it 4 out of 4. Ellis McKimm-Forster has the weight of the world on his shoulders as his spot kick decides Fylde's fate in this cup. With power he beats Stockton and Fylde have a lifeline. If Fenwick scores, Ebbsleet will be going through. Fenwick tucks it into the bottom right corner and it's Ebbsleet going through to the Second Round. Fylde are out of the League Cup not making it past the first hurdle.
DF: I didn't expect to be going out at this stage of the cup, I wanted us to put a good run together but credit to Ebbsfleet they took us to penalties and beat us.

AFC Fylde vs Mansfield Town
14th August 2032
The fourth game of the season saw the visit of Mansfield Town. Fylde were still unbeaten and still yet to concede. Ferguson tried a new approach going with Goode and Carey up front. Tyrone O'Neill was not named in the squad. It just wasn't going in for Henderson today, Bytheway had found him twice in the first half and both of his shots were a hairline wide of the post. Uttridge cut out the Mansfield throw and ran forward, he played a nice one-two with Carey and then laid it off for Wilson who hit a rocket of a shot from the edge of the box! 1-0! Vince Bytheway kept coming forward and this time Henderson tucked away his cross with a great right footed shot to make it 2-0! Colm Goode was denied his first Fylde goal just after 50 minutes when the keeper kept it out with his fingertips. The goal Fylde didn't want finally came when Whinman played in Ford whose rolling shot was enough to pull a goal back for Mansfield with 30 minutes to go. Josh Ferguson came on for Russell Carey just after the goal. Mick Wisdom was on for Patrick Uttridge with 25 minutes to go. Vince Bytheway was getting shots off all afternoon and the keeper done well to save his shot from Jones' cross. The rebound came back to him and he put it into the corner to make it 3-1! Kenny McPherson came on for Fylde replacing Sam Gibson, minutes later Josh Ferguson pulled up with a hamstring injury reducing Fylde to ten men. The game went into stoppage time and it was nervy moments as Gordon Whinman turned in Barry Keeling's pass to make it 3-2. The final minutes were tense and Fylde looked nervous. Mick Wisdom lost the ball which almost let Mansfield in to equalise but it was defended well. Mansfield were putting Fylde under immense pressure but the cool head of Morgan Feeney calmed it down at the back and helped Fylde to pick up the three points.
DF: They certainly made it hard for us in the last ten minutes but we done our job to make sure we won the game. It wasn't the best performance but it was job done today. Josh (Ferguson) is likely to be out for a few weeks, it's his hamstring. It gives one of the other lads a chance in the team.

AFC Fylde vs Coventry City
17th August 2031
Last season's mid-table finishers Coventry were the visit to Mill Farm for a mid-week clash. The two sides have met 8 times in competitive football with Fylde winning 4 of them. Dube was tested early on from the free-kick and John Jones was there to block the second shot after 5 minutes. 8 minutes into the second half, Henderson sent the corner into the box and Bytheway glanced the header towards the top corner but the keeper got across to tip it over. Colm Goode was taken off and on came Tyrone O'Neill to try to grab the result. The changes were not effective for Fylde in the second half and the match ended 0-0 at Mill Farm.
Duncan, Mick Wisdom came off the bench again today. Considering the effort it took to get him back, why isn't he starting?
DF: Patrick is playing well and hasn't give me any reason as to why he should lose his place. Mick is working hard and keeping himself sharp, the season is long and he always has to be ready to come in and you never know what happens. The lads are professional enough to know they have to be patient if the team are playing well.
5 games in and you're currently second. What are your thoughts on the season so far?
DF: We haven't even scratched the surface. We've done well defensively but there is still a lot more to come. New players need time to settle in and find their feet. We've got to be a lot more flexible and be able to change the team when we play certain opposition. We go to Luton this weekend and we have to be defensively strong. They've just come up and they'll be looking to cause problems.

Good shout. How's Parky Parkinson Parkin getting on?
After he left Fylde for Forest Green
I know we shouldn't speak of him again, but I can see him back here one day doing a Bytheway. Definitely a calming influence working in harmony when Big Dunc is giving it the hair dryer treatment. After he left Fylde for Forest Green in January 2023. He stayed there until April 2023 after being sacked. A year later he returned to football as the Assistant Manager of Boston United where he still is to this day in the National League.
I'd love to see an intercontinental match up.@The Penalty Box Dancer any chance big Dunc is interested in a job in Qatar?

Big risk if it comes off.I'd love to see an intercontinental match up.
I'm salivating. Can you image a hawk tagine pasty? James against the Wiz? I wonder if Blackpool International Airport has a direct flight to Al Rayyan City? It's a dream waiting to happen.
I heard, and I’m not sure how true this is, but David ‘Rhino’ Unsworth was recently categorised as the ninth planet in our solar system and Marcel Brands is currently orbiting him as one of his famous ‘twelve moons’Love this thread @The Penalty Box Dancer just wondering how is our current Under 23 boss, Unsworth and Director of Football Brands doing?
